Tom Brady: On Film, As Good As He’s Ever Been

image

From a pure “throwing the ball” standpoint, the first three series of the Patriots-Saints game last Sunday might have been the best three-series sequence of Tom Brady’s career. Brady was 11 of 15 for 177 yards and three touchdowns on those drives. He made several incredible throws with the pocket closing down, including multiple downfield throws that he couldn’t step into. His accuracy was pinpoint. What always stands out with Brady—or, maybe, doesn’t stand out, since it’s so subtle—is how little he moves in the pocket. He won’t relocate unless absolutely necessary, and when he does he covers the minimum amount of ground needed. No QB is more poised in the pocket.

Not yet in sight of any cliff. :)

It really is cool to watch. You are suppose to be a shell of yourself at 40. It's why Favre & Moon are the only two QBs in the history of the game to have above average starting seasons at the position at 40+. Manning could barely throw a football at 39.

Just adds to Tom's greatness among the alltime greatest athletes.

You know, I will get flack for this but in the Brady/Belichick argument, I really do believe Brady has been key. Maybe 60/40 in Brady's favor but still key. He is just absolutely incredible and I don't think the NFL will see another player like him for another 50-60 years.

Well the neck injuries probably did Forehead Manning in.

Much better longevity than Montana. Better stats too.
He will catch Manning in stats (very similar per game stats already)
He has more titles than anyone.
He is probably going to do this longer than anyone ever did

Does anyone have an argument left against Brady as the GOAT?

If Brady really was the GOAT, he would have just as many Super Bowl titles as Manning has one and dones.

I love Brady, but the Patriots have had a top 10 D in all 7 SB years, and 2 of them were number 1 scoring D. Over all Belichick has built incredibly well rounded TEAMS over the entirety of his tenure. He has like 13 top 10 Defenses. As a comparison the Packers have only had ONE top 10 D during all of Rodgers years, and that is the year Rodgers won the SB.

Brady is easily the GOAT QB, but Belichick is in charge of all of it. Those Defenses are a key part of all the success.

And how much of that is because Packers pay to get Rodgers weapons like Cobb and Jordy Nelson.

While Brady puts up a career year and Super Bowl win with Edelman and Chris Hogan.
