Surprised to see the Chargers get a lot of mentions as a team that could make a deep playoff run. One prediction even has them knocking us out in the AFC.

The Packers are also getting a lot of mentions as NFC champs. I say it will be the Giants and the Patriots (assuming hopefully they get the chance) will have a chance to avenge SB42 and 46.

I would love to see falcons vs pats in a rematch or the seahags. Packers are getting a lot of love but I believe their secondary pretty much still sucks. I think the seahags and falcons are better teams.

I think the giants are one of the most overrated teams. They have no offensive line and likely won't have any running game.

Chargers should have traded Rivers for a boatload of picks a long time ago when he was still a valuable player, now the entire league woke up to the reality that he is a choker who can win some games and then put a dagger in the heart of their fans throwing a pick or fumbling the ball in clutch time.

But then you do a trade like this if you have a direction, Chargers GPS is broken and they bought a new one on ebay from a chinese vendor for 1 dollar lol.

Chargers are that team that drafts skill position and flashy name players and get overrated because of it.
They are bad on d, bad in OL and rivers is aging and overrated.
They are headed toward another 5-11ish season.
And they continue to hire crappy HCs.

The Chargers are similar to the Saints: good QB, good offensive skill positions, really bad defense, and team is overall mediocre. The Saints have a HoF QB, though, and so there's always hope; the Chargers have a guy who was near-elite in his youth, but is showing his age.

So, yeah, clearly that means the Chargers are going to dominate, because the better version of their team has done so well, right?

Chargers have a great offense from a skill position perspective, but I don't know anything about their offensive line

I think the Raiders and Chiefs are still the most complete, well rounded teams in the division tho

Broncos still need a quarterback, Chargers need a defense and the Chiefs still have Alex Smith with less offensive weapons now with Ware injured, Jamaal Charles and Maclin gone

Raiders will take that division again

Their offense is ok, far from great at skill positions.
Rivers is very average. Gordon looks very average. Gates is a fossil.

I think it'll be Patriots/Seahawks. Talentwise, it's a wash: their defense / our offense and our defense / their offense both look closely matched.

I'm thinking the Pats will have an edge in intelligence, character, and - probably - conditioning. But it'll be close.

Can we please retire the whole "quotes around the word 'expert' thing"? It is so hackneyed and done to death. They are analysts, not soothsayers -- making wrong predictions doesn't invalidate their opinions.

I swear, every time an analyst says something remotely negative about the Pats this board immediately lunges into ad hominen attacks.

The issue with Seattle is that they have skimped so hard on their offensive line, and I think it's starting to catch up with them.

Wilson's mobility, imo, masks that weakness to an extent. He can buy time, and he is an incredible playmaker on the run. However, last year he was quite banged up -- did the porous offensive line contribute to this? -- and he had easily the worst year of his career.

Also, they dropped all the way down to 3.9 yards per carry last year and only 99.4 yards per game. I think this was partially due to Lynch retiring, and again partially due to them cutting corners on the offensive line.

They are for sure immensely talented though. I think Seattle takes as many gambles as anyone, in terms of raw, high-ceiling talent.

I really think it's impossible to make a prediction, as injuries are always the great equalizer. IF there are no more major injuries to key players, then this team should make it far in the playoffs, possibly to the SB.

As of now. Pats/Dallas. Not a surpise or bold pick but there it is.

Seahawks - they will be in the NFCCG IMO but the OL will cost them
GB - Sexy pick for some... no defense though so I don't see it.
Falcons - There is no reason they should not be back at the SB. But they won't be cause repeating is hard.

No other real NFC contenders. Bucs are too young, Giants OL stinks and they lack focus/discipline, Vikings don't have the O, ect...

Dallas on the other hand is a team ready to break out. After disappointing last year with their young but talented team and getting the first seed they are hungry for next year. They know they should have beaten GB but choked early and barely managed to not come back due to a miracle catch late.

That offensive line isn't as good as it was but still elite. The QB will have more experience. The D that is young will improve. Byron Jones takes a step this year not that he was bad last year. I think he turns into a top 10 CB. Jaylon Smith was a top 5 pick who fell to 34 due to a redshirt year. That gamble looks to have paid off at least come back wise. Reports are of a full recovery and he will be ready week 1. They drafted 3 rookies with their first 3 picks. All could contribute by years end a fair degree. Taco will contribute week 1 effectively very possibly.

They are adding a lot of talent to that D and their O should be good. Dez Bryant 100% back will be a monster and take pressure off other spots.

Dallas is due to win a playoff game. Once that monkey is off their back they will win the next one too. I still think the Pats win the SB but this team is ready to emerge as the force in the NFC for years to come. I see it as a multiple SB winning team in the next 10 years.

Chargers have been one of the most injuried team over the past few years.

They have the best pass rush combo I the div and getting back J.V. who is a great CB.

I think they surprise a lot of people.
