Since we play KC in the opener, we NEED to have an especially good set of players to cover their returners.

With injuries to special teamers recently, this becomes the primary threat in that game.

Nah let's just score every drive so we don't need a punt unit and kick touchbacks. Problem solved

We need a special teams unit to defend against returns after we kick off.

We could kick touchbacks. I'm joking but I'm not worried that we will have good special teams.

I'd rather have mostly kids with the potential to perform as quality backups (and perhaps as future starters) than have a half-dozen ST "aces" who can't do jack ****
on either side of the LOS.

This could translate to this - no slater or Ebner.. this would be a massive loss. BB rates these guys as highly as your Tom Brady's due to the leadership they show...

It seems that you want to model a roster for a different game, one with no punts or kickoffs.

As you say, Belichick strongly disagrees, carrying about a half-dozen STO players who we don't want to see on offense or defense.
