They could. I'd just be guessing. Really no way to tell what Woody Macc n Bowles have discussed.

And I wasn't fed this **** sandwich. I've been calling for something similar for years. And this year with a great QB draft coming is the perfect time for it.

Wait, so you taped that "KickMe79" sign on your own back? hahahaha

2018: "Yeah we get the first pick" "We're going to the super bowl" WTF?

2019: "Not a bad 8-8 season. Now all we need is a decent HC"

2020: "8-8 could have been 10-7 if not for a few bad plays" "We need a new GM"

2021: " 8-8" "We need a receiver"

2022: "8-8" "We need a CB"

2023: "Now that Brady has retired we'll be beasts in the easts"

2024: "We should tank this season and hopefully Belichick will retire soon"

Wait...that's a lot of 8-8's, they must have hired Jeff Fisher.

Would be a very Jete thing to do.

Eternal optimism is wonderful and you'd expect a fan to think that way. Coming to a fan forum of a "rival" team that has won 5 in 15, and the most recent one and trying to correct the opinions of those who know better is foolhardy.

He's just trying tell us that this year is different.

"Hey Guys, You can't make fun of me this season because the suck was purposeful" "No no, really, there's a reason for it"

"But by God, heed my warnings because when the 2018 season comes along you guys will be in big big trouble"

"Great Googly Moogly, you guys just don't get it. If we tank this year it means we'll lose almost every game. Then we'll get the first pick.. And then we'll go to the Super Bowl" "You see?" "That's how it works"

Yes Sah! That's some sound logic right theah..

Fughetaboutit

Great Googly Moogly..

Whatever QB the Jets draft is going to have a great situation. A team that has basically prepped for him a year in advance and has a large amount of cap to support. Want a shiny new FA WR1 and LT?... sure no problem. Here's the credit card.
It will be a shame to see all your shiny new high picks to have their careers short circuted because they have to begin them with the jetes. They need a good coach and some capable mentors to have a chance. So sad. Cripes you jete fans have gone from not only winning the off season every year but now your winning the season after next too.

We won this offseason?

I still think the Jets should have used the draft to rebuild the offense (except for the QB) for 2018 in anticipation of getting their top pick QB then. Looking at their roster I only see about 3 or 4 players who'd I'd say has a 90% chance of being a vital part of their offense in three years. No weapons, bad OL. A rookie coming in there next year is signing his death warrant unless they rebuild to the extent that Indy rebuilt their defense this year. Otherwise it'll be a David Carr ruined forever scenario that would make top QBs at least think about staying in school.
You make some good points. The key thing is that starting with high end D lineman is a recipe for failure. They're better to add once you have the rest of the pieces, because (a) you can't afford to keep them for long and (b) they aren't much use if you have no offense.

So between the draft and 90mil in cap... QB, WR1, RB2, LT CB.

We're good.
Good? You're suggesting in your green tinted lenses that maybe you have decent starters at 1/3rd of the positions, serviceable starters at 1/3rd of the positions and no one at the other 1/3rd of the positions. Then, absolutely zero depth if any of these get hurt. You do know football is a contact sport, right? And that you need special teams players too?

Next up, one off season is going to deliver starter quality QB, WR1, RB2, LT and CB? In what universe do you hit on all of that in one season, and back fill all the depth positions mentioned above too?

At least the JETE won't have to worry about attrition, anyone worth having has already left.

Keep an eye on things. Ya may learn a thing or two.

How is being a JETE a "great situation"? That's like having your genitalia cut off and saying "Well at least I'm still alive." No. You are now useless. Just like the Jetes.

The young QB will be walking into a great market, a team prepped to support him with a cast and tons of cap room, and a division ripe for the taking moving forward.

.

By your logic you have.

"We're winning by losing "

Well sure, but just because you're playing it smart doesn't mean ya "won" this offseason.

Yes I know it's a fun cry around here to say that, but ya gotta be at least a little consistent. Normally winning the offseason means making splashy expensive signings. So then you guys go all sarcastic saying the Jets won the offseason.

Now the Jets do the complete opposite and .... you say the Jets won the offseason.

c'mon man!

However next year is another story.

Save the "winning" line for when the Jets hit the jackpot in the draft and free angency.

That will be a great comfort to the young QB when Cameron Wake is folding him in half backwards like he did to Petty last season.

That's why Mangold and Clady were released. Give the youngin's the reps to sink or swim this year. Then correct as needed next offseason.

We won this offseason?
Well unless you've been under a rock for 16 years, you must have noticed jete forums have been proclaiming the changing of the guard annually.

You've got to get a handle on the whole quotation mark concept.

I didn't say nor have I ever said the Jetes won the offseason. That grandiose proclamation of delusional grandeur belongs to you.

"Losing begets winning" << notice the quotations

It is you who believes this brilliant FO has pulled off the mother of all strategies this offseason. "Der if we lose a lot, get the first pick and cut expensive players we'll be a juggernaut by 2018" Kyuh cuh cooh hoo hoo.

I love to tell you that this brilliant plan of yours is going to fail miserably. It's simply a lazy attempt to build a winning team. The first round pick means absolutely nothing if your FO is garbage. And guess what? Your FO is garbage.

But I will give you this. The Jetes last #1 pick did win a Super Bowl. With another team but nevertheless he does have a ring. You should be proud.

Actually an argument can be made the Pats had the best offseason. Short-term anyways. Seems Bill is trying to squeeze in wins while Brady is still Brady. Cooks should definitely help with that.

Quotes can insinuate anyone saying the comment. It is very common to see folks around here say the Jets "won" the offseason. Whether of not you said it I haven't kept track of.
