Gronk has been one of the most explosive TE's in history. Pending he misses significant time in 2017, what do you think his future holds on the team?

Furthermore, can the team survive long stretches without him in 2017? Allen isn't Gronk...

The additions of Cooks and improvement at the RB position is far greater than the difference between Bennett and Allen which puts us in a better position than last year.

That is not factoring in the improvement of Mitchell and that Bennett was pretty injured last year and a healthy Allen would be as good as an injured Bennett.

Why worry about this? Gronk may get injured again...... The team is obviously taking measures to win without Gronk with a stacked RB and WR group.

If he misses serious time this year because of his back we are absolutely in major concern mode

Major concern mode for Gronk as an NFL player & Human Being OR major concern for a SB repeat? Or both?

All 3. Human. Player. SB repeat.

Back injuries scare the hell out of me

If there is one positive that's come out of all of his injuries, at least to me, is that when he comes back from them, there's no discernable drop-off in his level of play. He always looks like the same guy to me.

This year will certainly be a key year for Gronk. No doubt.

Ditto.

I truly believe he's the most dominating TE in NFL history. Unfortunately I don't think the stats will back it up when all is said and done.

No question. I think he's in anyway. With some players like Gayle Sayers or TD longevity doesn't matter because their star burned so bright.

IMO Gronk is in that category.

Let's see. How did we do last year with missing Gronk for a long stretch?

Allen is a substitute for Bennett, not for Gronk. Gronk is a once in a generation player.

All long as he can play half the year with the power that he has; then he'll play. I don't expect him to outlast Brady.

Will Gronk's incentivized contract be his undoing?

For the past 3 or so years, Gronk has been operating within the Gronk Rules of Engagement created by Gronk and his representatives, his family, and his party promoter (caught you napping?). And because of his many injuries, his extremely cautious approach, and some distrust of the organization (rushed into action to quickly).....Gronk has been unable to make his case on the field that he is severely underpaid given his talent.

Will Gronk take more risk because of the new incentives? I doubt it. Extending his career should take precedent over higher risk, short term dollars... IMO.

Will NE manage his snaps to best serve the team's long term goals? Definitely. It's always about the ultimate goal.

Was this contract restructuring an irrelevant negotiation that allowed Rosenhaus to save some face after underdelivering on Gronk's "big deal" a few years back. I'm inclined to believe this restructuring was one big *********** designed to make all parties look better at no real cost.

Am I talking out my ass? Why change now?

I hope Gronk has seen the light and changed his off-season conditioning regimen to Brady's program emphasizing flexibility, quickness, speed, nutrition, etc. I recall seeing criticism that his personal off-season workouts emphasized too much heavy weightlifting which hasn't helped with what he really needs to avoid injury and promote longevity.

88 Games / 68 TD'S & 15 Y/R are pretty great

I'm a huge TD guy and hes one of the top weapons I've ever seen.

Less dancing, more yoga.

Why are you "pending he missed significant time in 2017"?

I can't think of any injury he had had that was due to conditioning.

Any player on the NFL would have blown out his knee on that hit.
Breaking an arm is not a conditioning issue nor is a back injury.
