Only 9 since 2006, including the Miami game last year where we didn't try very much. Take that game out and we haven't lost by double digits in almost three full seasons including 3 playoff runs.

A truly unbelievable run. Just ridiculous!

To me it speaks volumes that I/we can distinctly remember so many of those games without having to look them up - because they so seldom happen. In fact because they are so rare many of the games are given names (the audio tape game, the 'they hate their coach' game, the Peyton Hillis game, etc.).

As a point of reference here are the number of double digit losses for some other quarterbacks:
  • 61 -- Brett Favre
  • 55 - Dan Marino
  • 53 - Dan Fouts
  • 53 - Eli Manning
  • 45 - Drew Brees
  • 38 - Peyton Manning
  • 35 - John Elway
  • 35 - Jim Kelly (played in 92 fewer (177) games; 110-67)
  • 29 - Joe Montana (played in 50 fewer (219) games; 143-72)
  • 26 - Kurt Warner (played in 131 fewer (138) games; 81-57)
  • 24 - Ben Roethisberger (played in 64 fewer (205) games; 137-68)

Not entirely related, but I found one of the most impressive recent Brady/Patriot anecdotes in (ironically) Scott Kacsmar's review of the Superbowl.

Even with Brady and the Patriots, this change can be seen in how big comeback attempts have gone for them. I knew Atlanta could never feel comfortable until it was really over, because the Patriots are arguably the "hardest kill" in the league right now. It wasn't always like that, from 2001 to 2010, the Patriots were 1-22 (.043) when trailing by at least 17 points at any time in the game. The lone win was a 21-point comeback in Chicago in 2002. Since 2011, the Patriots are 4-4 in such games, and they also gave the 2012 49ers and 2015 Eagles fights at home before finally falling by seven points.

Patriots: Harder to Kill (Games Trailing by 17+ Points at Any Point)
Seasons
- Games - Record - PF - PA - 4QC/GWD - Record - Win or Close
2001-2010 - 23 - 1-22 (.043) - 14.5 - 30.0 - 1-3 (.250) - 4-of-23 (17.4%)
2011-2016 - 8 - 4-4 (.500) - 29.5 - 30.9 - 3-2 (.600) - 6-of-8 (75.0%)

That is incredible. A three score lead only gave teams a 50% chance of beating NE since 2011.... and only a 25% chance of having any lead for the remainder of the game!

So we get our asses kicked nearly 10% of the time? I dont care, I can't stand it.

Chargers in 05 is one I forget about. Didn't most of the Chargers points come in the end?

It was tied at halftime. In the final minute San Diego intercepted a pass up by 17, and lateraled back and forth to score the final touchdown. The big thing that nobody (at least from San Diego) remembers were some of the post-game comments that were made, a precursor to how the Patriots reacted after beating the Chargers in San Diego a year later (ie, Tomlinson's 'no class' comments). Whiny hypocrites...

Oct. 2, 2005: Chargers 41, Patriots 17

The game: Facing the two-time defending Super Bowl champs, the Chargers outscored New England 24-0 in the second half as they ended the Pats' 21-game home winning streak. Drew Brees passed for 248 yards, including 108 to Antonio Gates, and LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 134 yards and two scores.

The sideshow: Walking off the field after the game, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips yelled to no one in particular, “That's an (rear end)-whippin' right there.” Cornerback Drayton Florence poured gasoline on the fire by adding, “(Expletive) New England and their team. Get the look of shock off your faces. We beat your (rear end).” Those quotes weren't widely reported at the time, but the Patriots would recall them 15 months later.

Imagine all this happens with no one to "stretch the defense" or no one to "take the top off it".... pretty amazing.

New posters should have part of this their preposting orientation, just to put all of this in context..

Pro football reference has him with 271 games?

269 starts
271 games...one from his rookie year in 2000 and the Other is when Bledsoe got Mowed down in 2001
