Devin Street Claimed Off Waivers

The name sounds familiar. From University of Pittsburgh, I think? I think this is a fine PS candidate, and like the decision more than just another UDFA addition to round out the 90.

I guess we can say goodbye to Floyd. Maybe Street can be like Amendola/Gillislee/Hogan, survive several cuts and become a good player.

The odds of the Pats re-signing Floyd have been pretty slim since they acquired Cooks, but I don't think that claiming Street completely closes the door.

Regardless of Street's developmental potential, he's probably a good player to have in scrimmages and in Camp, and on the scout team for the defense to practice against during the season, at the very least.

There may remain some possibility that the Pats could re-sign Floyd for Camp. It would obviously depend on his asking price. Anyway, I'm not sure whether other teams will be eager to sign Floyd between now and when his house arrest is up - after OTAs are done. We'll know more after May 10th, when he becomes SFA and won't affect comp picks.

The 2017 Pats are looking like the Alabamas, Ohio States, and Clemsons of the college game. Their backups, with Belichick coaching and Garoppolo at quarterback, might be able to beat half the teams in the NFL.
Heck, with Brissett at QB they could probably beat half the teams in the NFL. With Garoppolo at QB they most likely make the playoffs. Remember they only missed the playoffs by a weird tiebreaker with Matt Cassell at QB, and a less stacked roster around him.

I'll be stunned if they sign Floyd. They're already 5 deep with Cooks, Edelman, Mitchell, Hogan & Amendola.

I'm guessing they're tentatively hopeful to get 2 WR out of Street, Carr and Hollister onto the PS [unless there's an injury situation somewhere along the line].

I like Floyd too. I like that he's a different kind of WR than the Patriots have with his size and physicality. Just think he's been squeezed out & is unlikely to get an offer in NE.

I'd say that's a conservative estimate. The Pats went 3-1 last year with Brissett and Garoppolo, and they're only more experienced now. Garoppolo would probably be a top 10 QB if given the reins full time.

I think it's more he has chance to be a number 2 somewhere it just won't be New England.
Malcom Mitchell and Chris Hogan are ahead of him on the depth chart for sure.

Maybe Rufus is on his way back to Pats TC as well..

The Washington Redskins announced Tuesday that they’ve placed four players on waivers including:

  • LB Steven Daniels
  • LB Rufus Johnson
  • WR Reggie Diggs
  • OL Quinton Schooley

Steven Daniels has me interested.

Great catch. Don't see any harm in bringing Rufus back for camp. That would be great.

Don't forget Lucien. Or is he gone?
