If Bryant is still Bryant, Pittsburgh's offense just got better.

Martavis Bryant has followed the protocol and has been conditionally reinstated by the National Football League. We appreciate that he has taken the necessary steps in an effort to get his personal life in order. We also understand this is just the beginning as he works to return to the team and meet all of the conditions of his reinstatement.

We look forward to working with Martavis to ensure that he is mentally and physically prepared to contribute to our efforts on the field, while also maintaining the proper balance to keep his life in order off the field.

Statements on Martavis Bryant's reinstatement

I sincerely hope for Bryant's sake (and for any other young person with his life ahead of him for that matter) that he stays on the straight and narrow, and fulfills his vast potential. He doesn't strike me as a bad kid at all; however he seems to have a problem with the one vice for which the NFL actually administers consistent--and arguably, draconian-- penalties.

As a Steelers fan, as much as I hope for the best for Bryant, I know he's an unreliable option that may relapse at any moment. I fully expect them to take a WR somewhere in the Round 2 - 4 range this week. WR2 was a major problem last year.

From a pure football fan's perspective, I'd love to see what Bryant could do (and by extension, what the Steelers' offense could do) if he were healthy and motivated for an entire season.

FWIW at least he's keeping himself in shape...

He certainly makes a huge difference when playing and has lots of talent. As a NE fan and Steelers hater, I hope he's smoking a big fatty right now.

I think his absence was huge last year. With the Patriots often less than stellar CB play last season, he might have made things very uncomfortable for N.E.. That WR corps has the potential to be very interesting this season, if players develop behind Brown and Bryant.

And I think it's ludicrous that sparking one up can cost players entire seasons. But that's the fault of the NFLPA, who let the league bend it over and go in dry when it comes to discipline.

Big play offenses like the Steelers fizzle out in January. New England has owned them during the Brady/Belichick era. He also doesn't play on defense. I still fail to see why Patriot fans keep desperately looking for anything that could make the Steelers a legit threat to New England. I mean guys...they haven't been a threat in 16+ years. The 3 years they won the AFC they got lucky and avoided New England or Brady was on IR.

************...are some pats fans on this forum still worried about the Pittsburgh Steelers? I will ask this same question today that I asked last year. How many more years do we need to keep owning the steelers before people finally stop worrying about them?

Bryant is back, ok. Do you guys really think that one player is going to make up for a 36-17 loss? Better yet, we are replacing Logan Ryan with Stephen Gilmore on D. We also put up 36 points on the steelers without Cooks and gronkowski

Bryant being back makes them better, but Gilmore, cooks , Gronkowski make us much better. And we have tom Brady, who routinely loves to put up career best days against the steelers. At this point, I'm ready to call Brady the steelers daddy.

Lastly, go over to the steelers forums sometime. Read about what they say about New England. I've never seen a bigger group of vile, foul, disgusting trash in my life. The stuff they say about Brady and the Pats is obnoxious. They hate the patriots with a burning passion. I love it when we own them every year.

Not to mention we dropped 36 points on the steeelrs without pro bowl talents like cooks and Gronkowski

It's silly anyways that the NFL would care about non-peds.

  1. It's actual football talk, and there's very little of that in the offseason.
  2. The Patriots offense owns the Steelers defense, but the Patriots defense doesn't own the Steelers offense.
  3. The ignore thread feature works.

Reminds me how I want to not be at work so I can smoke weed. Alas.

Yayyyyyyyyyyy, the Pats are awesome! Deus can't even bring up a positive point on one of the FEW opponents the Pats will face this season that could pose some challenge in our estimation? Cripes, no wonder other fans hate us.

The Steelers and Raiders (our two main threats) got better with the return/additions of Bryant and Lynch respectively. Behind that OL in Oakland that offense with few noticeable weakness has the potential to beat us if our defense is off its game. Dont get me wrong offense first teams still generally fare poorly against us, but our main threats have improved on the offensive side of the ball, and Im sure theyll both invest in defense in the draft.

Agreed. The Raiders were weak defensively, but they have some key pieces to build around in Mack, Irvin, Smith, Nelson, etc. They need to hit on a draft pick or two. I still think that side of the ball will be a liability, but it's certainly possible they may improve to middle of the road.

The Steelers defense was already middle of the road last year. They need some improvement in the secondary, and learn how to change their scheme against us. As you mentioned, both teams seem to have improved offensively, and both could walk away with a victory under the right circumstances.
