Me too. When it was do or die, he did. We need more players like that. Also glad Butler is back for the same reason, I hope we keep him, guy is worth more than the sum of his parts. This is excellent news! To me, it suggests that BB and the coaches see further upside and improvement from James White going forward. It probably doesn't hurt to have a great performance on the world's biggest stage either!
Coachable, dependable, durable and clutch.
It also seems that he is super popular with his teammates. It would not surprise me to see him selected as a captain in a couple of years.
I absolutely love this signing!
Lewis is signed pretty cheap isn't he? Why just give him away? It sucked when Brandon Bolden became the recieveing back when Vereen got hurt in 2013.
My dream NOLA/Pats Trade
Butler, Chung, and Lewis for
The 32nd pick, and Kenny Vaccaro.
We all know the reasons for the Butler for 32nd pick.
But I think Vaccaro would do amazing things in this secondary. Just as good, and at times, much better then Chung playing against the line, but he is one of the best SS in the NFL in the slot ( he can cover just about anyone). At only 26, he's playing on his 5th year option and next year NO will still be somewhat strapped for cash next season, and extending him will only work against them. Chung is signed for a good price next year, and they cost almost the same this year. Them trading for Chung (in theory) wouldn't be much of a steep down (they both seem to have up and down years, and him and Chung graded out equally last season) Plus they get lewis.
To me that would be a dream come true
Brother Manx, this is BB we are talking about. What others consider a foregone conclusion piques BB's curiosity for drafting.
Jammies Whitey?
And his SB heroics notwithstanding, I sure hope that Bill didn't sign him for Burkhead/Gillislee money (though I wouldn't have given either of those 2 guys $3.15M/year either), or even Sugar Shane Vereen money.
It's great to know that you are one of those insiders that knows exactly when extension talks are happening and how there are no other bidders even though that would be tampering but who cares.
Sorry but what you are writing is shortsighted. This is not Madden, it takes both sides to agree to make an early extension happen and if the player is not interested in your offer it won't happen. And the Pats have shown they are not getting into a dance with players about early extensions. They have their number and that's what you will get - take it or leave it. Sometimes the player takes it (e.g. Cannon or White) and will be playing on a team friendly deal, other times players take the risk and play the last season out (e.g. DMac).
It's ridiculous to blame the team on not extending someone early when it's not entirely in their hands especially in cases where the player has gone through multiple injuries.

This is almost spooky ... could be the best off-season in the history of organized sports. Fans of other teams will be flying off bridges across America.
