Pats host Bills RFA RB Mike Gillislee

Would make a load of a sense and should please the "we don't have a bruiser" crowd. His stats seem to suggest there's something there to uncover. On film..he looks the part of a top back.

Seems like a good value for what little it would take to acquire him.

5.7 YPC on 101 carries for a team without a passing game...those are numbers that should garner some attention. Just the 1 fumble on his 110 total touches as well.

He would work well on the Pats because he isn't going to see anywhere near the same kind of stacked boxes he would playing for the Bills.

My guess Bills wont get embarassed twice
They match

Bills have more flexibility this year and will have no problem matching. I agree they'll match. Too bad.

Excited by this, he's a guy I had pinned as a Pats target before the Burkhead move. Didn't think they'd still do it after that signing. That said, I agree with others that the Bills might not want to be embarrassed by the Pats here again, so it might be a case where the Pats would need to overpay if they want to avoid the Bills matching (assuming the Pats decide to move forward with an offer).

Gillislee's average stats are a bit misleading, as average stats tend to be. He's a home run hitter, with an unusual percentage of runs going for 20+ yards. But he also runs downhill. He's not as big and punishing as Blount, but he's not a dissimilar runner.

You could do a lot worse for a 5th round pick; most of the running backs people wanted in the 3rd-5th round last year were all pretty bad (Booker, Langford, Dixon, etc. Howard was good but it's a crapshoot)

BB's not resting on past success. While others take pics w collegues, BB is on campus. And still has time to haul in dudes to Foxborough. Love me some BB. Sign em all !

Has ST experience too.

I have been wondering why BB hadn't brought this kid in sooner but I think he genuinely wants LG back so he has been holding off.

Just might be at the point where its not looking good for LG to return to NE.

Lots of FA RBs in 2018 as well.

I think this guy is pretty good and can give the team a lot with 150 or so carries.

Makes a ton of sense

Would LOVE this signing. This kid is a starting 3-down NFL RB. No question. Just hope this doesn't turn into another cutesy Emmanuel Sanders situation that Bills can match. Also, I hope they wise up and trade their higher fifth so they lose 5.32 in comp.

I remember him killing us at times in that second game last year.

I know poison pills are forbidden now, such as giving a prohibitive raise for more than 3 games played in Buffalo in a season that the Bills couldn't avoid and Pats couldn't do, but is it ok if they have a clause related to missing the playoffs? It's unlikely the Pats miss it or Bills make it but isn't impossible in either scenario.
