More Kraft stupidity - there "should be" a team in London

The distance won't be a problem in 7 years.

Fire Goodell and use those millions to have Boeing make a supersonic Concorde-like jet just for the NFL, to cut the time in half. Technology exists but economics made no sense...people didn't want to pay 10K to fly to London in 3 hr. instead of 1/25th of that to fly to London in 8 hr.

No thanks. I just can't see it working logistically. How could they justify sending any west coast team to play there for a road game. What's that, a 9 hour flight? And what about the team in London, do they get 6 straight home games then 6 on the road to limit the impact?

Just a bad idea.

The Jets would be the perfect fit in London, because they are bloody bad.
I always thought that France or Italy would be a better fit. Maybe Greece or Portugal.......

Everyone is talking about the division, east and west coast teams travel. Imagine if you were drafted by London? 8 road games a year. Every 4 years doing the west coast swing in the NFC west, brutal.

London to Boston is about 500 miles - and 2 time zones - further than Seattle to Miami. The problem is that London to Boston is your shortest trip. Imagine playing the Broncos, Rams, Raiders, 49ers....

This will never work. In fact I hope they do it because I want to laugh at their hubris when it is epic fail. Free agents are not going to want to go to London.
LOL, 500 miles? Try over 3,200 miles and 5 hours.

London is a wonderful curt with much to offer. Obviously, for many, living there would be FAR better than many current NFL cities (Buffalo, Detroit, Jacksonville, Indy...).

Having said that : I just don't know how that team travels to 8 US locations a year w/o it being a huge disadvantage. It boggled the mind the lengths the league will go to get the extra, short term buck. Like LV, this sounds like a quick money grab that has the potential to be a long term mistake.

There are various new technologies maturing and close to being ready, including a Concorde 2. It isn't quite there yet, but you're right, that could be the change that makes this incredibly crazy plan totally feasible.

Link below is to some of the options out right now.

Concorde 2, Boom Jet and Antipode will bring about a new era in supersonic travel | Daily Mail Online

And economics didn't make much sense back in the day, but totally make sense now. Considering some pay $6K-$8K for business class on a regular Air Canada flight to London, $10K in 1/3 of the time is totally feasible.

I figure there's no way there'll ever be a team in the UK (or Europe for that matter) unless the relevant government agrees to give the team exemptions from local labor laws. (Can't see how it could be otherwise, especially with the draft, salary cap, etc.)

Interesting point. Thinking out loud here.

The US military falls under a SOFA agreement. Maybe it's possible for the NFL.
