More Kraft stupidity - there "should be" a team in London

Sporting occasions will always get special dispensation. Take the recent Olympics in 2012 whereby special deals are made to hold these events regarding taxes. The same is for Wembley stadium when it has been hosting the Champions League final whereby they basically offer UEFA a tax-free game to host the game. Its a win-win, organisations make more money, London and the UK sells its City to the world and therefore entices millions of tourists every year... You could even add the current International series games that already takes place, I'd bet there is a deal already in place with the NFL and our Government in order to have these games.

The schedule seems to be the biggest argument against, but what if the team has two bases, say Miami and London, say it has one on the West coast too. It doesn't have to be like my fellow UK resident above says blocks of 4 games, it could easily be 2 games.

As for traveling distances, take our Footballers that reside in the UK, there are many Brazilians, Argentinians (South Americans as a whole) that make grueling 12hr flights from the UK to play international games 24hrs after stepping of the plane... many fly first class and they sleep overnight on the journeys, Liverpool themselves hire a Lear Jet for their two Brazilians.

What's stopping the NFL purchasing an Airbus A380, decking the thing out with 60 beds/rooms? After all, the bloody thing can hold 853 passengers!

Also every year there is a disparity with regards to teams and mileage, some travel much more miles than other teams, I'm sure there is a table out there.
I agree with you that the labor law issue is probably no issue at all. I can't imagine England not giving the NFL some sort of an exemption. It will be interesting to see if any public money is used to build a stadium though.

Like "Back to the Future" promised us flying skateboards in 2015.

I would be shocked if it were to happen that soon. Look how long they have been playing with the Raiders, Chargers location situation.

But I do agree with the real premise in this thread. The NFL sees another 750 million pockets to pick on the other side of the Atlantic.
Good for them. I'm all for seeing the sport grown.

European expansion seems to me to work better if done en masse -- a new European conference, possibly matched with a Latin American one, and a 4 conference playoff structure. I don't know how the hell you'd do it without drastically watering down the player pool, but on the other hand, maybe that's what this sport needs.

No matter how fast they travel, jet lag will be a HUGE factor.

Not one team or player who has played in an international game in London has commented or spoken about Jet Lag.

The Tottenham stadium is being built with no public money at all, there is though a 15m investment by the local council in fixing the local area for transport links and roads as well as public areas to go to before and after.
The people paying for the stadium will be the club, with its profits on a year to year basis. The matchday income will pretty much double to 200m easily and naming rights to the stadium is being sought that hopefully will bring in another 20-25m a year. The Owner is not even dipping his fingers into his pocket.
This past week the football club announced its trading figures and there is an anomaly private investment which has gone unnamed in the stadium build of some 45m. Some believe this to be the NFL's input, what they get is the dual pitch system, both sides of the ground has matchday facilities so unlike football/soccer which stay the same side of the ground, One NFL team will be under the West whilst the other is under the East, both facilities will have tunnel viewing area, including media rooms, conference rooms for each team. Basically, everything has been doubled.

Now is all being done just to feature two international games a year which Tottenham Hotspur have in terms of a 10-year contract?

You may not realise this but the International Series is now in its 11th year. A Franchise has been mooted in the UK since the International Series inception, but even more seriously since multiple games came to London in 2013.

I just want a team in Chihuahua ... the Chihuahua's of Chihuahua.

Message from El Paso, next door to Chihuahua: if the minor league baseball team here is any indication your dream can become reality.

It'$ no $urpri$e that Kraft $upport$ thi$ move.

Interesting point. Thinking out loud here.

The US military falls under a SOFA agreement. Maybe it's possible for the NFL.

You see that's the problem today. Even our military have become wimps needing sofas. I blame your effete commie liberals like fnord

Maybe that's because both teams traveled from the US. I'm not sure if it would become a major issue if the NFL scheduled the games appropriately. London team travels to Seattle and play a 1 pm game which would be an 8 pm game body clock wise for the London team.

I think the body clocks during the season will be East Coast and not London.

The 11 years is simply a nurturing of their "warm market". Please try and come up with a realistic scenario where a team can be created/moved from a division. in 2-3 years and be one of the 32 or #33.

That's possible if all the London games are night games. Good point.

Wait, you mean I have a body clock I can simply set to any time I like as opposed to naturally ending up where I exist, eat, sleep and live my life in?

Just wait until the Super Bowl. Starts at 6:30 eastern; I'm sure Londoners will be happy to watch the Super Bowl starting at 11:30 pm their time. Imagine if the Silly Nannies were in it, too. The only way to make it work would be to move the Super Bowl starting time back to 3:00 or 3:30, so it would be 8-8:30 in London, noon-12:30 west coast, and 10-10:30 Hawaii and Alaska time. I'm sure the American TV networks would have no problem with that......

No but if you're used to playing 9 pm games in England it shouldn't bother you too much to play a 4 pm game on the East Coast or a 1 pm game on the west coast.

Warm market!?

90,000 sellout games in a day!.
Now at 4 games at 80k Twickenham and 90k Wembley

Moving two games to Tottenham new NFL stadium next year which holds 61k

So games selling out in a day then a team playing 8 games at 61k Yep demand is a warm market. I'd suggest a Bull Market is more likely.

I agree the hardest part is getting a London Franchise into the balanced 32 team setup.

Your games are viewed here at 6pm.. 9-925pm then 1am late games Sunday and Monday.

Viewing the superbowl at 11:30pm is like an early night for European NFL fans. lol There is no need to change that time table.
