2017 Draft Prospect Thread

Very interesting. I obviously respect his opinion, but I think Peppers has what it takes to thrive in the Chung role. Similar size, similar responsibilities in college (not a ton of safeties are the returners), and similar high-energy teammates. If Lombardi is right, though, that just means Peppers drops to a range where we have a shot. I'd be intrigued to see him in this defense / special teams unit.

Well Dane Brugler had something different to say. He said Peppers can't cover TEs now but that he's been pulled from pillar to post on defense playing different positions and having to learn the offense (and sit in offensive meetings) and that he's not had the opportunity to learn a specific position.

Except he can't tackle

Tanner Gentry, Wyoming, WR

We met with him at the pro day. There's a bad fumble in the video but I really like his hands and his easy speed for his size.

The highlight video is horribly put together but highlights some of Gentey's quality catches. He's an intriguing PS candidate.

Julien Edelman

5-10, 195
4.52 forty
1.52 10 yard
3.92 shuttle
6.62 3-cone

Drew Morgan, WR, Arkansas

6-0, 190
4.62 forty
1.53 10 yard
4.02 shuttle
6.63 3-cone

(Morgan's times are from his pro-day which bettered his combine times).

Now tell me he doesn't play with Edelman's physicality and passion. Oh yeah, Edelman is a free agent after this season. Just sayin'.

@eliotcrist has been running George Kittle gifs on his timeline. Well worth checking out. If you're on twitter and like prospect gifs, he's well worth a follow.

Really good series. He is one of a handful of TEs I would still be very comfortable drafting. I just wish he hadn't blown up the combine, cause I would have been really happy with a 4.75 TE that blocks like that, let alone a 4.5 TE that does.

His series on Jarrad Davis outlines all the concerns I have on him as well, and really struggle to see the top end value that others see.

Definitely worth a follow.

Also highlights the things I like about Davis. I must admit, aside from injury, I don't see many negatives to Davis' game.

I called him the homeless von miller 4 months ago. Not sure when he became the actual von miller, but the hype train is a movin'.

I don't think he's Von Miller, and I'm pretty much the leader of the bandwagon, but I do think he's a valuable chess piece against the evolving passing offenses of today's NFL. Miller is likely destined for the Hall of Fame if he keeps up his level of play. Other than his injury shortened year, he's put up double digit sacks in every season, to go along with 20 forced fumbles and a handful of interceptions. He is one of the few edge rushers who must be accounted for on every play. Reddick can absolutely be a good player -- even a pro bowl player -- without reaching Miller's level.

I have no doubts about any of that. I think every draft there are certain guys that just pick up significant momentum, and the commentary just goes in to overdrive.

I love Daniel Jeremiah and think he's probably the most level headed draft head on TV. With that said, allowing von miller comparisons are pretty nuts for anyone, and multi 10 sack seasons is a very short list of players.

Reddick is a good player who has some versatility to him, but I don't see the edge rushing potential in our system, which significantly diminishes his value to us. He's a slightly better Van Noy imo, which is why I see him closer to a second rounder than the now expected top 15.

In terms of sparq, "sigma" relates to how much better than the average athlete is. So in the NFL, there are a handful of 3 sigma players (3x a better sparq grade than the average athlete). Byron Jones, JJ Watt, Evan Mathis and Lane Johnson were all 3 sigma players.

So here's who rate as 'sigma prospects' in this class.

Kevin King 2.5 sig
Fabian Moreau 2.2 sig
Robert Davis 2.0 sig
Tyus Bowser 1.7 sig
Zay Jones, Jonnu Smith, Bucky Hodges, Jordan Willis, TJ Watt, Solomon Thomas 1.6 sig
Shaq Griffin 1.6 sig

I'd love Jordan Willis in the early 3rd. Reminds me of this years Trey Flowers except as a smaller LB type.

My love for Henderson as an Amendola / Edelman understudy grows:

Will probably be a lock on my mock from now on:
