I personally feel (sadly) weather Nink is on r off this team he is an after thought at this point. I just don't think he has much left in the tank. I like the player but he is on his last legs. Either this year or last year were his last as a Patriots and I would guess it is 50/50.

He still has something left and a being only a $2.25m cap hit hes pretty reasonable.

I do recall making a thread saying this is the year to spend and do a lot of long term contracts cause the cap will reliably be going up over the next 3-4 years.

I think the Pats factored that in and that is why they are being so aggressive now. My other guess is they will not be nearly as active in the next few years and go back to their usually very value based approach.

I don't see any deviation from “value based approach“.
Its true that the values are different - but so was Pats cap space.

Also, let's wait for the real numbers. It always gets lower w Pats.
Most of new contracts are considered bargains or even steals ..

Apparently his play fell off this past season (or last?) but he's been a solid edge guy throughout his career. A couple of double digit sacks season.

Maybe he can be this years Chris Long? Vet guy, comes here cheap, looking for a ring and plays situationally?
