Scar was present at Florida State's Pro Day. He got the Scar stamp of approval.

You could certainly argue that Scarnecchia input had something to do with the selection of Florida State offensive lineman Tre Jackson in the fourth round — Scarnecchia was present at FSU’s pro day, and he maintains a deep and abiding friendship with Seminoles offensive line coach Rick Trickett.

Bill Belichick: Former OL coach Dante Scarnecchia did ‘great job’ assisting in pre-draft evaluation process

Only question I have with Jackson is health. He was a very good rookie (4th round rookie) until he got dinged. Can he come back strong?

Since the Pats moved everywhere but OL, it seems, I'm guessing they think he's good to go. Also, will Karras push someone this year?

The dollar amount announced with the signing was surprising. Did not know anything about him prior. After reading the Wright/Hicks comparisons seem good. Wright looked like he was going to be a player, but injuries cut him down. Really like Hicks and wish we had been able to keep him.

Your 5-1 is actually a 3-4 Big Nickel, with Chung and Van Noy as ILB in coverage. The give away is the NT playing 2 gap over the center.

This is an evolution of the 3-4 the Pats used to run with Bruschi and Ted Johnson at inside backer and McGinest and Vrabel outside, changed to accommodate the changes in the game that favor a passing attack. Bruschi and Johnson were mostly asked to stuff the run. McGinest and Vrabel with edge contain.

The modern game favors a downfield passing attack, so teams are running less, passing more. Bruschi and Johnson would never have been able to cover the slot receivers and TEs the way Van Noy and Chung are asked to. For that matter, Van Noy and Chung would never be able shead OGs and stuff the run the way Bruschi and Johnson were asked to.

Other than that, this looks like an old school 3-4.

Andrews needs an offseason in the weight room. Mason needs more experience as a pass blocker which he has gotten as he plays. He is a superior mobile and pulling Guard. Jackson is an unknown, but was superior power drive blocking G in college. His question is mobility, and pass blocking; and injury status.
