Actually, that is not true. There are many extremely knowledgable posters here and some that understand this game more than most of the mediots out there.
It is great that we have such a passionate fan base and that many understand not just the game itself but the inner workings on building a franchise.
It is also a shame that we have a contingent of idiots who come here for obvious negative attention because they can not get it in the real world.
It is what it is.
If someone has coaching experience or something like that on a high level, fine. If someone has inside sources, again, that's unique.
But 99% of the people posting here have nothing unique to offer and just come here to express themselves. I have intermediate level coaching experience and so I give what I can to the technical discussion, but I have no sources or high level experience, so my opinions are just that.
So while I agree for the most part, the people you're referring to are very few and far between and they're unlikely to shoot from the hip when putting forth their analysis of a move or anything else they might analyze.
So I really wasn't attempting to insult the keystone posters that bring objective analysis from a place of advanced knowledge, just pointing out that nobody here really knows how to manage an NFL roster better than NFL executives and coaches, which is extraordinarily complicated.
So, again, the opinion that signing Gilmore to that contract, allowing Ryan to walk or trading Butler for Cooks is bad asset management is just an opinion with nothing to differentiate it from the hundreds of others expressed here. I mean, to say that a given contract is bad asset management by citing the overall value of the deal and nothing else ignored the dozens of variables that go into NFL roster management.
