Nothing about it suggests they know what a top CB looks like.

That is the reason why a top CB is more valuable to them than a top WR.

WRs are the most overrated position in the game. Getting Cooks and paying him big money in the future is way worse than paying big money for Butler.

You could say it's a business, don't get too attached etc... but there's no team without the people that are a part of it. The Pats are not some mythical God represented by the players.

And Butler has been nothing but spectacular for us. He's improved every year, he's been humble, and he's never taken a play off. What else can you expect from a player? It's not even about loyalty. I don't expect them to sign Amendola to a $5 million contract just because he's been clutch for years. But Butler?

I just...i feel numb right now.

Risky proposition. Butler has been great in this system and two lockdown corners, even if its just for another year, would be great to have. That said, Cooks is explosive and can absolutely murder a defense for dedicating too many people in the box. He'd give Brady his most explosive target since Moss and, on an offense that can hurt you in so many ways underneath, would make that unit a juggernaut. Without Butler, a unit of Gilmore, Rowe, and Jones (should be make the leap) is still a very good unit. With Butler, it's an elite unit and probably the best in the NFL (or at least up there with Denver).
