Pats not trading Garoppolo - Schefter

When did I say that? Brady is great. Polo is a next franchise QB. BBs and Krafts job is to maximize the benefits to the team... TB for up to 2 years and then transition to Polo, is what I seek

Brady led the greatest comeback in NFL history and all you do is sh.t all over him. You're a disgrace.

Drop dead.

Gotta love the Browns fans, I took a look at their board and they want to draft Trubinksy with their #1, some are saying Garret is Barkevious Mingo 2.0, they don't want Jimmy G (a few level headed fans think it's the best choice) , some fans deserve the team they choose to root for.

Lol. I hope they draft trubinsky lol. Idiots. They could have jimmy G and garrett and still have tons of cap space to work with. Jusy give up the picks!

He threw the deep ball very well this past season. Bill want's to get him more weapons. I don't know if he can play more than four years but it would be a blessing.

To be fair, the hangup with JG and teams like the Browns is that he might only be there one year if they traded for him. Trading multiple picks to get a year of JG and an end of 3rd comp pick probably seems like a pretty big downside risk.

It must be nice to have a top 5 pick every year, for some fans the draft is their SB, they make an event in their houses, make popcorn, buy some beers and call some friends.

Which board is that?
On realcavsfans they say not drafting Garret will be there last straw as a fan

Yes that's a theoretical possibility but I still highly doubt any team trades for Garoppolo with the idea that "ok, well if he refuses to sign a new deal after this year, we will just pay him $55 million for 2018 and 2019." You may say "well that's 3 years for $56 million" but the salary cap won't look at it that way.

That's not a desired outcome for a team to get themselves into. You don't *want* to put yourself into a position where you're bringing in a new guy who already has the mindset that it'll take the franchise tag to get him to stay.

Not ideal, but still completely doable, even on the excessive 3rd year (presuming JG proves worthy) which short circuits the idea that a refusal to sign would be a major stumbling block.

I disagree. I just don't see a team giving the Patriots the bounty they require for a QB who they know doesn't really want to be there and they would have to franchise after a year to keep him, and then do it again another year later to continue to keep him.

And then what happens? He's so good you decide to franchise him for 2 years and then lose him afterwards so you're right back where you started?

That team would be sacrificing way too much up front for such a far, far too uncertain situation.

That it isn't ideal is not in dispute, only the idea that a desperate team would refuse to make the trade because of it. The former does not necessarily lead to the latter, especially when the worst case is three years of service.

If you want to make the case that it would cause teams to lower their offer to the point that NE no longer deems it viable, that would be easier to support.

"Brady is great?" You say it so easily and so lightly as if it holds no weight or meaning. Pretty pathetic

What you "seek" ain't happening so you might as well settle for "great."

If you've read my posts, you'd see that *is* the argument I am making. I have stated many times no team will surrender the bounty the Patriots are reportedly looking for in exchange for only 1 year of cost certainty for a QB that doesn't really want to be there before having to play the game of tagging him.

I don't think it should be allowed, they are rewarding teams for perennially sucking. If a team is in the top ften two years in a row they should go to the back of the class the next year. I get trying to create some parity but teams like the Browns and Jags are getting top picks every round every year and at some point theirvfranchises should be held accountable for incompetence.

Well I don't necessarily agree with that, I think that this format is well established and "works" (kinda, as you said those teams don't improve and I'll add the Rams to the list) but I think the NFL should have an eye on blatant cases of tanking like the Colts did to get Luck and like the Jets will do this season with an eye in 2018. That for me is the definition of cheating the system. But of course, they would look into that if they had any resemblance of integrity which they don't have.

Thanks for the clarification.

FWIW I still disagree. I concur that the uncertainty might be a big roadblock for any individual suitor. But with 3+ out there I suspect the odds are high someone is willing to take the chance.

BB Wants the 1st pick in the draft that diabolical bastard.

Looks like no homecoming for Jimmy.. Stock of Jimmy staying still solid

This sounds more like a one year rental type move with backup possibilities. Are they waiting for next years draft? IOW, I'm not sure this rules out JG. Plus I wonder if Glennon wants this.

I don't have a problem with the format overall I have a problem with the same teams never getting better and getting rewarded for it Year in and year out,

Substitute the Pats and Saints for the Colts and Rats, and the NFL* would definately look into it.
