2017 NFL Combine Thread

I won't knock him for it just yet. He's a very physical, powerful player. Remember than Tryann Mathieu only did 4 reps. He's turned out okay.

Going to have to ball out in the 3cone. Poor strength can be overcome with agility. Striking out in both categories will be a pretty big red flag.

I think Hikutini, Leggett and Pharoah Brown made mistakes not competing in more events today. Not sure if there were injuries, but if not, those were three guys I was really hoping to see do well today.

When you are in a huge talent pool like TEs are this year, you can lose ground by not competing against the field. The risk of a George Kittle type guy jumping in and blowing people's expectations out of the water might be enough to bump you down the draft.

The way things are going they'll be all gone by #32

I am not entirely sure. The fact that it is a deep class in many other positions and the similarly excellent display by most other TEs might keep him around until round 3. But as always it just requires one team.. so yeah..

Kittle and Shaheen have become my binkie targets at TE. Fingers crossed..

Not surprised at all by njokus testing numbers. Never looked like a burner, while
The explosion is obvious.

Think OJ is the big winner so far. Just a pure TE with all the measurements in his pocket now.

I agree. I think he's locked up the no 1. TE spot now.

Just noticed that Samaje Perine had a better 3-cone than Dalvin Cook (7.26-7.27). Cook had a really bad workout.

Is he a top 10 lock now?

That short shuttle is better than McCaffrey's.

Did you see Godwin's short shuttle? 4.00. Very nice. Zay Jones at 4.01. Both of them have the tools to thrive here.

Deshaun Watson was supposed to have looked very good yesterday in passing drills. I wonder if we'll see him in the AFC East next year. I can see him going to the Jets or Bills. Trubisky will probably go top 3 and Kizer didn't look that impressive.

Trubisky in the top 3, Watson to Jets or Bills, Kizer to the Cardinals?

More or less how I have seen it for awhile. I have thought the Bills would be the ideal trade partner if we ended up with a top 3 pick.

Now it's just a matter how high Trubisky goes.

Good for him. That'll go down well with teams.

Speaking of tough guys, McKinley is a full participant despite the pending shoulder surgery. He said that everyone plays through injury, and he's looked forward to the Combine for years. Good luck to him!

Cooper Kupp ran a 4.08 shuttle and a 6.73 3-cone. He's locked himself in as a slot receiver. A disappointing forty, but the rest of those times are very good.

Hard to find fault with Jones or Godwin as a no2 WRs. They've ticked every box.

From CBS sports:

"At 6-foot-1 and 209 pounds, Godwin ran an official 4.42 40-yard dash, which ranked in the top five among all receivers. He was the only 200-pound-plus receiver to hit the 4.42 mark.

Godwin isn’t a slow receiver, but not many scouts expected such a fast time. When talking to him, he mentioned blocking, instincts, route-running and contested catches as the strengths of his game, but not speed. However, as his 40-yard dash showed, it probably should be."

I love his self-described strengths. And as they pointed out, no other receiver with his size ran that fast. He's been a bit of a favorite for a while, but now he's approaching binkie status.

I've said all season that he's an ideal Amendola replacement. Great fit as a big slot with dependable hands.

Jalen Robinette - 6.77
Ryan Switzer - 6.77 (nice!)
Jehu Chesson - 6.7 (3rd best)
zay Jones - 6.79
Chris Godwin - 7.01
Chad Hansen - 6.74
Robert Davis - 6.82 (continues his excellent combine).

I'm still on board with Switzer. Looks like a Patriot receiver (not because he's white) and represents better value.

I think I prefer Zay, he's the type of ball control receiver I like (just like Marvin Jones) but I'd be fine with Godwin too. I think Godwin could be a no 1 whereas Jones strikes me more as a no 2.
