3 mil is a lot for a player that is more then likely going to miss time this season due to suspension
Not if it's $1.5m gtd and $1.5m incentive based.

We are kinda loaded at wide out with Edelman, Hogan, Dola, and Mitchell. I don't think I'd re sign if I were Floyd.
Edelmans contract is up after 2017. Amendola needs to take a 5mill paycut to stay.
Mitchell is a rookie who was a later round pick and seems injury prone.
There is plenty of need at WR.

A positive to Bennett cashing in after the Superbowl would be the example it would provide for Floyd.
Spend a year with the Pats, keep your nose clean, and you can cash in big.
A Supetbowl win could be an added bonus, but he could still cash in without it.
Are we eligible for a comp pick for him?
I like Reiss but in this case he really needs to explain. There is no reason to think another team would give him substantially more than the veteran minimum after he just passed through waivers unclaimed and he's now facing some "time off" from the league. Not to mention the fact, he didn't do much for the Pats in their stretch run. It's the same set of circumstances.
I guess it's always possible now that it's the off season but It gets back to why.
Are we eligible for a comp pick for him?
Floyd will only be eligible for a comp pick if he signs a deal that warrants it. If it's league minimum deal, it would be unlikely that the Patriots would get a comp pick for him.. If it's a deal in the 3-5 M range, then the Pats could get a pick..
The fact that his contract is up after this season certainly impacts signing WRs, regardless of hope that he is extended. He is also 31 in May, has had a long injury history and takes a beating.Which will probably change some point this 0ff-season. Likely a 2-3 year extension that would lower his hit for this year
Do you not see the irony in saying we don't need to worry about WRs because we have a guy who will take 1.5mill because no one else would offer more?He will. He won't get more from another team so he'll take the cut and stay.
When he was drafted is an indication of what his perceived talent level is. Doesn't mean he is limited to that, but there were many, many 6th round picks who didn't turn into Antonio Brown. The fact is 4th round WRs have a lower success rate, for a reason. Sure they can outplay what people thought of them, but that is the exception not the rule. Not sure why being a 4th round pick matters. Antonio Brown was a 6th round pick. Not saying Mitchell will be Antonio Brown but later round picks can be good players too. As for him being injury prone, eh, he had 2 injuries this season and 1 of them was a freak injury in the pre-season.
We don't need to sign Floyd and draft a 1. We have many needs greater than WR.I was hoping that they re-sign Floyd and draft Clemson's Mike Williams with a pick from the Jimmy G trade. Love Dola but he's turning 32 and is owed a ton of $$$.
Williams, Floyd, Mitchell, Hogan, and Edelman would give us the best offense we've had since 2007.
Floyd was released from his team, and no one claimed him. We gave him a shot. From our perspective sure, but from his and his agent couldn't he find a better opportunity with a chance to be a #2 or even #1? I think Titans are hurting at wide out.
