Gambler Goes Ballistic Over Atlanta Super Bowl Meltdown

My buddy sent me this.... LMAO....

Let met get this straight... He's unemployed, and he lost $1,600 betting the under (line of 56), and he's ranting about the Falcons not running up the gut at the Pats 22 for the easy field goal.

That would have made it 31-20 and have taken it down to near the 2 minute warning. Isn't there a reasonable shot that the Pats would take it down from there to at least get a touchdown, to make it 31-26, and he would lose anyway? Seems like his rant is misplaced to me.

If they kick the field goal the Pats need 2 possessions to tie. That makes it incalculably harder to come back. Not quite zero, but close enough when you're already straining probability to make up a 25 point deficit as it is. As tired as the Falcons defense was and as inept as Ryan was at running the clock offensively, I think the Pats would get the football with like 40 seconds to go and with no time outs. It would take a miracle to tie the game at that point. Not that they couldn't do it, but it would be incredible. If they could get in field goal range with at least a little time on the clock... maybe?

what dummy would bet against the Pats

anyone knows if someone bet on pats at 28:3 Falcons lead?

I don't give a flying fornication for your gambling losses, buddy. Suck it up.

Apparently, there's a poem he never read:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

But Hammer makes a good point. Even if the Falcons make the field goal, and the Patriots only get 8 instead of 11. 31-28 is still 59 points and is over. Either way he loses.

If he had bet against Brady and the Pats -- he lost.
If he bet the under -- he lost.

He should be more mad at the Falcons defense for letting up all those points after only giving up 3 in the first half. If they had continued to stifle Brady and the Pats, he would have won either the Under bet or the bet on the Falcons and against Brady.

Either way his anger doesn't stop this from being the greatest comeback of all time!!!

Gambling is bad.

BTW, does anyone else here think he looks like a bloated Mickey Roarke?

"To all my friends.........!!!!"

Kipling ... still the man's poet ...

If -

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

I thought Curran had a good point about the aggressive play calling and how Atlanta had to stay in attack mode because of who they were playing. The play calls themselves were stupid, but the decision to be aggressive and not settle for 3 was based on Brady.

This lunatic is raving about how it would be game over if they kick the FG, but that still leaves 3 to 4 minutes for Brady. Remember, Brady has performed enough miracles to keep the pressure on. Remember when he led us back to 2 scores in under 3 minutes to pull off the miraculous I comeback against Cleveland in 2013? I bet you Atlanta's coaches do.

So trying to score a TD isn't a terrible idea. But as Curran mentioned on his podcast, they could have ran a different play besides a deep 7-step drop where a sack will kill you. They could have thrown shorter.

50,000 thru 5,000 years ago this man would have been unable to breed or reach any where close to middle age due to natural selection/Darwinism. Just sayin...

((but to be fair to this contemporary lop, maybe he would have thrived going back enough millennia to the era of triceratops and Raquel Welch in a Woolly Mammoth fur bikini)).

Just read Rikki-tikki-tavi to my daughter a few months ago. No story has riveted her attention like that one. Made me go back and read the whole book.
