Not gonna happen, but what if Brady announced his retirement at the SB?

Nothing suggests Brady is remotely interested in hanging it up, but just imagine what an epic moment it could be if he's with Goodell in front of the world?

It would be like a song that gets lots of air play down in Houston

He can do whatever he wants at this point. He will go down as the greatest ever, won more than anyone, and laid it all out there from day 1 to the last.

I will be singing Neil youngs "Helpless", but Tommy doesn't owe me anything.

Would suck, but to leave on a note like that and make the easy choice to have Jimmy G start his career.... it wouldn't be the worst thing.

But after watching his career i want to see him get more rings and watch the rest of the country and media have a melt session over the continued success.

I'd be happy for him.
I'd jump on the Jimmy G bandwagon.
And I'd look forward to Brady's defamation suit against Goodell.

Would totally suck big time. He wants to keep playing; it would only come out of some negative non-football influence. I think we should come up with other, less terrible speculations (if Tom breaks his leg in 1st quarter, will we go more with LB than we planned or do we feel confident about Jimmy G & JB handling the Falcons?)

If hypothetically Brady announced his retirement at the SB, I still think he would exercise some restraint, knowing Goodell might punish his team anyway. While Goodell deserves it, a crude response might make people feel sorry for the Commish.

Subtle remarks will speak loud and clear.

I did this thread because a number of you fantasized stuff like Brady giving Goodell the birdie.

He'll be back.

This thought actually occurred to me when I was considering how Brady would handle the moment if he wins the MVP and Goodell has to hand him the trophy.

Brady does not have many years left and will have to retire some day. If the Pats win this Superbowl then he really has nothing left to prove. He could continue to play the game he loves and add to his legacy, and of course, a crippling injury that reduces or eliminates his ability to continue playing, or a sudden falloff in his physical skills, could make continuing his career something he no longer has a say over, when teams have better options.

With all of the crap he and the Pats have had with this corrupt NFL* continuing to cheat and find ways to handicap the Pats and bring them back to the pack, and with an inability for Brady to fight back against a corrupt Omissioner, that the courts have said can do pretty much anything he wants discipline wise, what better way could Brady choose to leave, on his own terms, than after winning a 5th Superbowl, and 4th SB MVP.

Imagine something like this. Brady wins the SB MVP, and when Goodell hands him the trophy, he says something like this.

While I have loved playing in the NFL* for the Pats fans, Robert Kraft, and Bill Belichick, in recent times the experience has become somewhat less enjoyable than it has been when I started, and that is due in large part, to the corrupt leadership that the NFL* now has.

I am announcing my retirement from the NFL* effective immediately. By winning this MVP trophy, and helping the Pats win one more Superbowl, it should be noted that I did this for my family, Pats fans everywhere, coach Belichick, and the Kraft family. I certainly have the ability to keep playing, but to continue playing under such a corrupt organization as the NFL*, led by a cowardly toady for the owners, would offend every fiber of my being.

I have always been a competitor, and I compete on a level playing field, if I lose, I determine why and do whatever I need to do to make myself better so that I am more likely to win next time.

But whatever I do, I do NOT cheat, and I take the greatest offense to being accused of that, particularly when the accusation comes from the spineless weasel standing beside me to hand me this trophy.

You look a bit red Roger, are you getting upset? Well hold on a bit because you are about to turn even redder.

You may have a trophy for me, but I have something to give you as well. I am instructing my legal team to begin the process of filing a lawsuit against you and the corrupt NFL* you serve, for defamation of character, and THIS time, the trial won't be conducted in a kangaroo court where you get to be judge, jury, and executioner.

You had no evidence before to come close to proving that I did anything to the balls, or directed anyone to do so on my behalf. THIS time, there will he actual evidence provided in a court of law. I hope you didn't destroy YOUR cellphone, or direct any of your lackeys to destroy their's, as they will be needed soon to check for evidence.

Brady out....

I meditated on this as well and the answer I came back with was....

...He'd still have a hand with no rings on it. :D

The trade talk would switch from Jimmy to whether we could get the 12th pick for Brissett. (We can't, but the question would be asked)

I'd be very sad cause he would have made a mistake imo. Why leave good football and a potential 6th ring on the table?

I'm hearing more and more chatter about this.

I don't like it.

Stop!

:p

Would suck but he's not leaving with the chance to repeat, get a 6th ring, and have another dynasty at the end of his career with 3 rings in 4 years. I would retire after the next one. That would be beastly.

Retire before the game or after? Assume you meant after.

Anybody know the term left on his contract? Assuming he's here for at least 2017. Maybe 2018.

It would be his second Jordan audible in two games.

It's not going to happen but if that's what he wanted I'd be great with it and have full confidence in Jimmy. Years ago I wanted a SB win for myself so I could say MY team won. 4 SB wins later I want it for the players. Brady at the top but so many others, if they win I'll be happy for them not for me. So if Brady were to win #5 and say goodbye, if it's what makes him happy it's what I'd want him to do.
