Rich Eisen:Why Brady is the Greatest

I'm pretty sure all his receivers had names. I can't think of one receiver he played with who's parents failed to name them.

Not debating here. Just my thoughts
Edelman was a QB
Amendola was not #1 on the depth chart
Mitchell is a rookie
Michel Floyd hasn't played enough games
Moss was an elite talent when he got here
Welker was not #1 receiver with Phins
People who came here with a ton of talent like Ocho Cincho didn't succeed. So I would agree that Brady didn't have elite receivers.
Although I don't give Brady full credit for turning them into the players they are, i credit coaching staff for using them to maximize their abilities.

All the receivers we have now haven't been successful with their previous teams (whatever may be the reason) and have been even more successful once they got here. So it's easy to call them "no-name" receivers when they were not as good back then as they are now.

This misconception TB12 has had nothing but no-name, average receivers at his disposal is ridiculous.
Troy Brown is a no name? That's alternative facts right there. Let's look at where some of these no names rank on the all time lists. Moss and Gronk are not included here are they are considered "names" by the media.

Wes Welker - 903 receptions - 21st all time
Troy Brown - 557 receptions - t92nd all time
Deion Branch - 518 receptions - 118th all time
Kevin Faulk - 431 receptions - 189th all time
Julian Edelman - 425 receptions - t196th all time

Both Ben Watson and Jabar Gaffney are in the top 200 all time, though a majority of their catches came with other teams. Amendola, Vareen, and Patten sit just outside the top 250.

Not a collection of world beaters necessarily, but its a consistent stream of productive players. Part of the brilliance of this team is realizing that an offense can go farther with 4 good role players catching passes than with 1 superstar surrounded by JAGs.

We once had a cat, and we couldn't pick a name, so we went with "Noname" (no-NAH-mee).

**** y'all, this is wicked relevant.
My friend once named his cat TC. Which stood for, The Cat.

Brady was like Marino in that matter. He made his receivers household names, sorta like Mark Duper and Mark Clayton. Brady did that with Branch, Welker, Brown, etc. Even Gaffney had a few good years. Those guys didn't break out until they played with Brady. He was lucky to have Moss for a couple of years and now Gronk. But most of his career he had nobodies that he turned into somebodies. So I agree with Eisen.

Before the AFCCG, we knew who Hogan was, but the rest of the country was probably wondering who the hell he was. I'm sure the Steelers know who he is now :)

Name one that Brady has had as long as Montana had Rice, through both of their primes. Name one that Montana has had that couldn't have been used at the same success rate compared to a guy like David Patten. Montana had Freddie Solomon, and Dwight Clark to start with. Back then that was a huge advantage. Brady won his first three Superbowls with his most reliable receiver being who? Deion Branch?
Does anyone even remember why we got Moss? We got Moss because Bill was expecting the league to open up on offense. Why? Because we kept kicking the snot out of the other rans in the playoffs, namely the Colts. Otherwise, the Pats would have kept guys around like Wiggens, Patten, and Givens, to offset Troy.

Even giving the Pats these three to start his career, it's still not the same as having Rice from the start of your career.

Let's say the most gifted receiver they've had other than Moss was Deion Branch.

Deion went to Seattle and was a mediocre WR.

This is what they are seeing.

Compare Brady's receivers to Manning's. Manning had Pierre Garcon toward the end of his career, and I thought Manning had made Garcon. Then Garcon went to Washington and did really well.

FWIW: Because of your post, I told my daughter I'm calling her TD (The Daughter) from now on. Which turned into her calling the Dog "TD" (the dog). Which turned into my son feeling left out so we decided to call him TD (the Dude). Which turned into them calling me TD (the Dad). hahahaha

WTF is a top 200 all time or top 250. By definition that's no-name. Just by making the NFL you're probably in some top 1000 list.

I was listening to the show yesterday. Eisen did have positive things to say about Brady, but he also more or less was saying that 'Patriot fans who think I hate the Pats are wrong and here is why - I think Brady is great'. He then went on to say Patriot fans are wrong about their persecution complex especially regarding spygate. His logic was that for Roger to have destroyed the tapes then they must have been really, really bad, blah blah blah.

I turned it off at that point.

It was some sort of strange passive-aggressive dig at Pats fans. If anybody responded I'm sure Eisen was 'why are you upset, I'm saying Brady is great', and then grumbled about Pats fans never being happy and what's wrong with them, etc.

Maybe he was just trying to play both sides of the fence. 'Brady is great' for Patriot fans, and a spygate insinuation for everyone else.

Add Rand, Donte Stallworth and Gronk too.

Yeah, kind of like being on the top 100 list of guys that played for Navy. (Which I guarantee BB has an extensive knowledge of)

They know who he is, but he's still burning holes in their zones.

He's out of touch. So is that brainless twit Dan Le Be(re)tard

People can say all they want about how Pats fans are dillusional in thinking the league is after them when there is hard evidence owners, other GMs SVPs in the league and the commissioner have gone out of their way and at great expense to knock this organization down a few pegs

Yeah I listened to it too but to be fair there IS a lot of persecution/victim complex about anything said about the patriots by a lot of fans who react and respond to it after deflating nonsense . So maybe well founded but some aren't e.g every flag thrown against us doesnt mean league is out to get us .

Cowhard did the same thing about Bostonians. " I loved living in Conn., I was an hour away! I never went there though, the people are just to "self absorbed, unhappy, inferiority complex, hated outsiders, I was there for 11 years! I'm one of them! I spent all of my time in New York City, they were so much nicer! Boston kids were raised on the Tea Party and Paul Revere, the world revolves around them! New York allows immigrants! Melting Pot! Ya, Ya Ya!

I don't disagree with idea that there is a lot of persecution/victim complex.

I just thought that was not the time or place for Eisen to trot out the 'well the must have been some awfully incriminating evidence for Roger to have the tapes destroyed' line.

If his whole reason was to laud Brady, why make that comment? It completely detracts from the point he was attempting to make; in fact it derails the entire topic of conversation. And that's without even getting in to the fact that we all saw two of the tapes, or that you cannot prove a negative.

Oh man, I created a monster. I am honored though ! !
