I would believe 11 out of 12 balls more than 2 pounds lighter than they should be ( "Science"per Mort) before I would believe BB has any room for offensive genius Chip Kelly by moving over Josh McDaniels or Brian Daboll.

It might be sensible to bring him in as an assistant of some kind if Josh is really likely to move on after next season. Give Kelly a year in "the system" then maybe make him OC after next year.

Or, he could simply just be an advisor for a time til he finds a new job. Similar to guys like Schiano.

IMO a good football mind can always fit, it doesn't have to be in a standard coordinator-type position. E.g. Dom Capers as a "special assistant" in 2008 or Ernie Adams as an "Ernie Adams" in perpetuity.

Kelly may not have proven to be a good NFL head coach, but I do believe he's a good football mind -- and all signs indicate that BB thinks so too.

I don't think BB asks for anybody's "blessing" when it comes to talking to people.

McDaniels has three rings as an NFL Coach and just took himself out of the running for the job from which Kelly was fired. Chip has no rings and no job.

So, I doubt that Josh or anyone else is going to get upset by Belichick's talking to anybody. I'm pretty sure that, working for BB, they all know where they stand and what their job is.

Mort is scum. But he did not fabricate Deflategate. His handlers did and he dutifully passed it on. His big crime was failing to retract and correct, not fabrication.
