OT; Ravens LB Zach Orr Retires

Wow. During the Pats-Ravens game, I kept wondering - "Who is that LB making plays all over the field for Baltimore?" He was immense in that game and I kept wondering when he would be a FA.

A respectful tip of the hat to Zach Orr. So sorry to see his career end so prematurely and wish the young man well going forward.

That's unfortunate. Yet another young promising LB retires very young.

This was an excellent year for him and I thought that he was one of the better 'bacjers around the league. He played hard and smart. I too wish him well. I was following him all season as I had him on my FF team.

I don't think the Ravens tried to talk him out of retirement, I think that was more probably Ian Rapaport embellishing the story to milk a few more tweets and retweets out of it. From all I've heard and read once his medical condition was discovered there was no way he'd ever pass an NFL physical. So the decision was pretty cut and dried, not his choice. And everything I've heard (living in the DC area it was a lead story on news radio tonight) the Ravens are entirely on board with the reality of it, and may be hiring him as a coach.

That's really sad considering it wasn't his choice. At least with Chris Borland a couple years ago, it was his choice to walk away.
