.....Finally, Abe Vigoda and his brain damaged crew were given a PLAYOFF GAME? .......

In an already great post, this was pure gold.

If we had a mistake free football game and dropped 45 then we would think we were hot **** and get stung by KC/Pitt. Now brady can re-evaluate as can the o-line and get it right in practice and we go into the game 100% mentally ready

Giardi and Curran: Belichick can't be happy
Tom curran called osweiler 'the cardboard cutout houston had called a QB'. He was really bad. Dont know how much our D vs osweiler himself.

Osweiler has his problems but Defense had something to do with it. Osweiler made 5-6 bad throws and Brady made nearly as many. Both were pressured. Even Branch got push up the middle on 2-3 plays preventing Osweiler from stepping ups and the secondary schemed really well on several of his errant throws.

Osweiler's pass to Fuller was the best pass of the game by either QB. Fuller catches it and it's a whole different game. He also had several dropped (Fiedorowicz on a curl, Fuller, Mumphery on an out and one by Hopkins).

halftime break...Simms talks only how well the Texans are playing...the sideline skirt only talks to O'B. It's as if the Pats don't even exist to these corporate scumbag catspaws. This definitely colors nationwide perception and makes azzoles like that punk in Seattle seem like he's onto something. Basically it's all blind hatred by scumbag human beings.Simms, Cryingsworth...they really suck. ****ing sellout P'sOS

Yeah. My friend who doesn't know or care about football watched some of the game with me and when the halftime report came on even he said something along the lines of "aren't we winning?"

You can't play the f**king "if" game. Texans scored 13 of their 16 points because of Pats turnovers.

If you're gonna play the "if" then "if" Rowe doesn't get a penalty and the Pats play turnover free Texans get shutout.

Sure we can play the "if" game. It's the internet! Geez, we would not have any draft threads "if" we didn't play the "if" game.

Look, the Patriots had two fumbles (one lost) and two INTs in a game that Brady had the worst completion percentage in his post season career. He was very candid about how bad the offense played last night. Brady got killed last night - 2 sacks, 8 QB hits. We're fortunate he didn't get hurt.

The offense only scored 20 points once you remove the special teams TD on the return, and the final TD on a two-play, 6-yard "drive."

They have to play better than that against any of the remaining teams who have real QBs.

I really like this line of thinking. It can be extended to BB and JM as well. The whole team could have played better.

And what's with the loser crowd at Gillette? It feels like a collection of pink hats, Boston Brahmins and lonely dudes eyeballing their smartphones. In most of the country, they'd die for a team like this. Literally. I don't get it.

This game is the reason I wanted the Steelers at 3rd seed so we could not face them in the Divisional. The Divisional is the round I feel like they can get "caught" rusty or whatever. They did not look good. But now I think they will be very ready next week.

I am not totally comforted by this. Sometimes a bad performance can motivate improvement - sometimes it is a tell. See the 2008 AFCCG. Little running game - receivers besides Edelman (and Hogan) not getting separation. Hopefully this was just due to superb Texans defense.

HA!!! Caught redhanded trying to fix that Osweiler pass/recovery. "uh..flag!! Too many men on the field...Pats penalized 5 yards..oh wait...no penalty for too many men on field...oopsies...sawree...really didn't mean it..heh heh..."..Scumbagdell shows his hand once again

They picked up the flag because it happened after the "INT". With the INT being (correctly) reversed to an incomplete most penalties that happened during the (negated) return get ignored. That's standard procedure and has been so forever.

(I believe something like a personal foul or unsportsmanlike would still be enforced after the INT was negated, though.)

Lately we have been rusty in the divisional round. Against the ravens in 2014, against seattle this year and against Houston last night.

But if anyone thinks last night is indicative of next week slow down. Because it is unlikely brady throws two picks and we fumble a kickoff return the following play, dumb penalty. It just wont happen two weeks in a row. All houstons 16pts were self inflicted by the pats.

Bill will lay into the team this week and they will correct those mistakes for next week.

This team generally comes out sharp after a sloppy game

The offense didn't hang 34 on the #1 defense. One TD came on special teams and the final TD was handed to the offense by the defense/Osweiler being desperate. The defense played great against a poor offense.

The offense scored 17 points, but then only had two TD drives. The offense came very close to coughing up that game - 2 INTs and 2 fumbles (one lost.) Ball security is going to be pounded into these guys this week.

The defense exploited Osweiler's lack of confidence and experience. Survive and move on.
Its a team sport....

I love Amendola and he is coming off an injury, but down 2 WRs in that game, he needs to show up better. 0 receptions is not going to cut it.

If we got all our draft picks, how deep **** would the rest of this league* be in? Heh

That was closer than I'd like it to have been. Wait did anybody get the final tally on how many yards we scored? Funny how after the game, there's no commentary about the second half ability to move the ball pretty well against the "best defense in the NFL," just saying.

But still, too many unforced errors. You need to step it up at this level... mistake-free or close to it, and then the big plays (positive ones) are gravy. Fortunately the Texans spotted us plenty of big plays, just as we spotted them a number of them.

The difference is we made them pay the price. They got mainly field goals. If our defense was the best at preventing YARDS instead of SCORES, it could have been a much worse outcome.

By the way, on that count, big ups to Houston on that goal-line stand where they stopped Blount. And Brady. And errybuddy. My thought is they get some work on that particular situation this week.

I love how going in, it's "Don't count Houston out," then after the game, it's "Geez Houston didn't fold up like an origami swan, they must have counted Houston out."

But it is, first and foremost, a reminder that everybody alive right now is alive because they're survivors and have a killer instinct too... and pride... and professionalism... and talent.

There are no easy games from here on, and if there are, it's a fluke.

Here's to game-plan, adjustments, preparation, and an extra day to recoup while they figure out who's coming to NE to play. And no plane ride.

It's another hat and t-shirt game, and some damn piece of hardware called the Lamar Hunt Trophy... yeah fine, it's the last ticket to punch for the one game you're trying to get to. I think the Pats are more aware than any of us what they're getting into.

By the way, weather might not help us, unless KC and Pixburgh are breaking their ankles on ice patches today. Maybe we're looking for 55 and sunny this year

Yeah they have to improve but let's show a little pre-Brady/BB spirit. Remember when THIS game - the AFCCG - would be a "HOLY CRAP we're IN???" game?

Me, I'm savoring a little bit of that as best I can... even though my expectations are fugged up too by this remarkable run.

In fact you know what's depressing? You know there's some guy in Boston or New Hampshire or Maine or somewhere that was 90 years old, and swore to God he wouldn't die until the Pats brought home a Lombardi... and then died in 2002. To me, I'm just sad he's missed the next 15 years and counting. (edit - changed 2001 to 2002... I keep forgetting the Super Bowl is in the following year)

Of course, his family bought their retirement home by selling his season tickets... so...

So me, I'm breathing a sigh of relief. We're still alive. We need work. But Baltimore or the JEST or somebody didn't just come in and beat us in our own house in the divisional round or something...

So, dodged that bullet. Another bullet to dodge next weekend, make no mistake!

GO PATS

I think mitchell back next week mitigates the floyd mistakes. Mitchell probably catches that ball floyd deflected for an interception.

Thankfully Hogans injury doesnt appear to be serious. And neither was bennetts

I understand many people being nervous last night with everything happening that everyone said had to happen for Texans to win, but man I don't get some of the stuff I read in game day thread.....Brady sucks, this team is pathetic, only the comments were worse than that. I had to get out of thread after awhile.
I was nervous too, but would never make comments like that about this team after all they've given me as a fan.
