2017 Draft Prospect Thread

Watching the championship game, I couldn't help but think that Ben Bouleare #10 - Linebacker looks like a Patriots type of player.

The reads he made on some plays reminded me of Bruschi.

This guy may not have the measurable of other prospects, but he is a smart playmaker.

I will take a smart playmaker any day over a combine stud who has not been overly productive in college.

Can this **** get taken to a different thread? This awesome thread has been utterly derailed. We get it, you don't think Mixon should be drafted. You've made that abundantly clear. Nobody will change your mind and that's fair enough. Message received loud and clear. Now can it just be dropped or taken elsewhere so we can get back to discussing draft prospects. Let's move on....

The weirdest part about this entire tangent is that it is 100% clear that the Patriots won't touch him anyway. Curran said so on his Quick Slants podcast that the two big no-no's for the Patriots are a) domestic violence and b) gun related issues. So while I agree that just because of Tyrek Hill's amazing season someone will take a chance on Mixon rather sooner than later I feel like it's a waste of time to discuss him as a potential Patriots pick anyway.

Let's just move on from Mixon.

Didn't Ford pardon Mixon?

I agree, Kraft speaking out against Ray Rice killed any chance that we will draft anyone who hits a women.

I said as much 4 pages ago. DV, Kids, Guns etc Krafts are out.

Jonathan in particular made it a point to send the himself.

Either way no one was pounding the table for him. Some were a no and some were ok in the late rounds.

Not a big deal at all. Draft prospect in draft thread.

Moving on...

Brought up Bowser the other day and LZ as this today.

Just finished my tape work on UH OLB Tyus Bowser and gave him a draftable grade. Much better player this year than last. EXPLOSIVE TRAITS

I asked him best fit. One team. Pats.

I'd ask who we would take if the Brown traded the #1 pick but I think we can all agree it would be either Jonathon Allen or Myles Garrett

Anything other than Garrett would be a terrible pick.

Allen is a fine player but not nearly the player Garrett is. Not even close. Light years.

I'm it's that big. The kid is underrated at this point.

As good as Allen is I'd draft two Fr DT's over him who were just as good if not better this year.

No way he drops anywhere close to where we could get him, but would love to see what BB and Matty P would do with a piece like that.

Good chance he slips out of the 1st.

Maybe it's the Wolverines homer in me, but I find that hard to believe. But it does seem like the pre-season chatter of him being a top 5/top 10 pick has faded and he is projected mid to late first in some of the mock drafts I've seen. So maybe he will be a miss. But I think he'd be an incredible versatile tool for our D, especially if we got to pick him at #32

I could see him dropping. He's a bit of a one-trick pony. Helluva trick but he's basically an in the box safety - hardly a position high in demand. Deonne Buchanan range might be as far as he falls though.

I lot of teams are going to struggle to find a position for him.

I would not be surprised if teams take the sure thing and let him drop.

Mich moving around to exploit his versatility are going to hurt him a ton.

I still think he has real SS potential, with a real high end. I think a high end version of Chung might not get too many people excited, but it's a necessary role in our defense.

I am hot and cold with him, but I think he tests out more athletic than people think he will, and moves in to an end of the first choice.

I am not against him as a late first round drop option.

Everything you said is 100% true. He could be a great player. I just think there's a few things he could improve upon.
One thing that bothers me about him is hes late to react at times n relies in his closing speed.

He really should go back and clean up some things but hes a fantastic prospect.

WR class isnt 2014 but its pretty good actually. Im fell hard for Isaiah Ford. This kid is only 21 (in 3 weeks) and is already a very good route runner, hands, hops, wiggle, should run sub 4.5. 6'2/195

Also Takk is only 21-22 I believe? Not breaking news but something ro think about again

WR class is underrated. Davis and Kupp set major records. Williams has great jump ball prowess. Ross and Westbrook can run past anyone. Zay Jones is the prototype possession guy. Switzer looks like an Edelman clone. Godwin reminds me of Hopkins. Adams looks like a gritty starter. Tons of mid-late round unproven"potential" guys (Sutton, Noah Brown, Robinette, Galloway, etc). Ford, Darboah & Chesson, Dupre & Duval, et al, would benefit from actual quarterbacks throwing them the ball. I've really warmed up to this class.

Right now I'm partial to Godwin in the 3rd or so. He had an exceptional day against USC, and his ball skills and aggressiveness in traffic look so much like Hopkins. They're about the same size, and I expect them to test similarly. Hopkins was far more productive, but Godwin is just starting to come into his own. He'd be a nice compliment to our corp.

I'm very high on Ford. He can beat man/press, wiggles, 50/50, hands and so young.

Just finished my Williams eval last night. Biggest concern is getting off los against NFL press/man cb's. Medical. Has to keep hitting weights and watching film. Guy is a talent tho. Braylon Edwards/Devante Parker comp's for now.

Goodwin looks the Patriot way type.

Some guys

Evan Engram has to be a Patriot.

Great videos! I love watching those clips @BaconGrundleCandy . A lot of my favorite guys represented there.

Josh Reynolds is another WR I forgot to mention earlier. He's extremely good at contested catches. I don't think I've seen a better red zone threat in college football. That said, he's gangly and lacks top end speed. I'm not quite sure what to do with his evaluation. I'm not sure he's strong enough and explosive enough to consistently create after the catch or threaten downfield. In the end zone, though, he's an absolute monster. Two huge bowl games, too, so it's nice to see him elevate his game for the big time.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Taywan Taylor earlier. Good player. Productive, nice routes, good speed. I also like Coley as a later round developmental deep threat. I'm not huge on Etta-Tawo, but he's got good size and had solid production. So many WRs this year that I can't even keep up with all of them.

Easily going top 10 if true.
