take it or leave it! Gronk gonna gronk again!

I see him getting mugged all the time without call. The Shaq-effect at work.

The non-call in the Ratbirds 2014 playoff game was one of those muggings. It's a big 3rd down play with the Pats trailling, the ball is thrown to Gronk in the middle of the field where everyone can see (even the refs), TB12 has it right on the money (what else?), Gronk has his body between the pass and the LB trying to cover him, but then Gronk can't raise his arms because the defender clearly has them both pinned down to his side. Time for the Pats to punt.

Another non call was the HUGE one at the end of a game in Charlotte a few years ago. That was a play where the defender simply tackled Gronk while the ball was on the way so he couldn't move to get it. That one cost the Pats the game.

We could probably start a thread here about the poor calls and non-calls against Gronk.

The mugging v CAR where in the EZ Luke blocked him from catching the ball while he was turned away from the ball was the worst non-call in PI history.

I also remember this from the game against the Giants last year. Two defenders bear-hugging way past the five-yards allowed.

Actually they called it - and then decided they didn't. Made it even worse.

yes.......cuz its time to move on from gronk to butt

To this day I have no idea why the reversed the call. Never heard a cogent rationalization.

People just spent the whole offseason crapping on JE11 cause he couldn't stay healthy, couldn't play a whole season. Well he just did. People get hurt playing this game - does not mean they are done. Obviously we would like Gronk to play every game possible, but that is not realistic. He can still play at a very high level as far as we know. Even #1 draft picks can be busts.

I think the question is purely hypothetical...ask yourself this question, "Would Belichick trade a First Rounder for a guy, no matter how talented, with Gronk's injury history?"

I think we all know the answer to that question...which is just as well since I, for one, don't want Gronk going anyplace...even if he misses 4--6 games a season due to injury. What he gives in the other 10--12 games is worth it!

Let me be clear. Gronk is tradable but right now it would still take a lot. Usually trading a non-QB for draft picks is bad value and mostly cause everyone over values draft picks TBH. I would be willing to trade him for about for about 3000 draft points and then turn that into multiple first rounds picks. I would like to hear about his progress first. If the doctors give the green light i would be tempted to go for 1 more run with him to see what happens. I think he makes you the clear favorite next year if he plays but BB needs to stop being stubborn. If you keep him you need to put him on a count ala Dion Lewis and save him for the end of the year and the playoffs. Sucks to pay a game 7M to play 300 or so regular season snaps but if that means he is there for the most season you do it.
