Brady for MVP

In my opinion I do not think anyone who's been suspended should be eligible for MVP. As ridiculous and unwarranted as Brady suspension was that should be a rule.

As far as Rodgers goes, this is a man who threw his entire team under the bus after what, week 8!? Not to mention if he was truly the MVP of the league his team wouldn't be scraping the barrel for a wild-card spot... They would've been winning consistently. So basically you can say that his poor play earlier in the season set him up to come swooping in at the end of the season to possibly take the and MVP award. I honestly do believe he will win the MVP if the Packers make the playoffs. He is the darling of the NFL even when he sucks (qualifier: by great player standards)and he has please consistently subpar last year and more than half of the season, there are nothing but excuses from the media and fans for his poor play-- it's never on him, it's always because of the their crappy coach, injuries, or his own injuries (ever notice how he always is limping in the month of December?)

Whoever said he is the Peyton Manning of the league now nailed it that's exactly what he's become through the media. Arron Rodgers is indeed the new Peyton Manning!

It's a nice day today.

No it isn't. There's a hurricane a 1000 miles to the south. Three people have died.

It's a nice day here...

Cumulative exposure to sunlight causes skin cancer. 5.4 million basal and squamous cell skin cancers are diagnosed every year from sunny days just like this one.

Brady might not get the MVP and it certainly could go to someone else (just as deserving) but I strongly disagree that there are 3-4+ prospects more deserving than him. Jesus.

-Elliot is carrying Dallas
-1900 yds (1550 rush / 350 receiving) in 14 games......135 yds/game total offense
-#1 in first downs (88)....he grinds
-#1 in plays of 20+ yds....he hits home runs
-Dallas #1 in Time of Possession (32:22)....he keeps opponents offenses off the field

Regarding Brady....despite his amazing efficiency and production:
-Atlanta's offense is significantly better
-Brady missed 4 games and voters will use this to deny Brady
-without Brady, NE played .750 ball....more ammo to deny Brady
-will voters value "per game" production over total production? (we are a lazy species)

Great post.

I disagree with the quoted part, tough. For me, it's impossible to ignore how good Dallas Oline is. Elliot seems to be special, but it's hard to say trully when he has those running lanes and support. They can block the second leve of the opposing defense with ease sometimes. That's why i wouldnt count Elliot as the Most Valuable. The most valuable part of that team is not him.

You make good points overall. I think Ryan is the most deserving to win this year, honestly. He is playing lights out and carrying a much worse defense than ours. He is the most valuable player in the NFL this year, with Brady right behind his tail

NE played .750 ball with backups was a small sample. you think they would be 13-2 at this point now w/o Brady?

Ryan's defense is worse than NE's is not really a good case either - thats why he has a worser record.

I will be surprised if the voters dont give brady the MVP. They have been wanting to give it to him after 3 weeks of his return. The narrative started right then "Can brady win MVP after missing 4 games?" .

If I was a voter, I'd probably give it to Ryan for having played all fifteen weeks (doesn't matter that Brady lost four to a vendetta, he still didn't play) while playing at just as high a level.

Rodgers doesn't belong in the conversation - he's behind not only Ryan and Brady, but also Carr (who earns some extra credit because the Raiders have been mediocre to terrible for so long), and that's 'without even going into other marginal choices.

Ryan threw pick 6 + pick 2 against chiefs, single handedly lost that game. After that, he shouldn't be the favorite to win the MVP.

Nope don't want Brady to win it at all. It's the Marshall Faulk curse. He started the streak of regular season MVP not winning the SB.

brady should of won the mvp last year but they gave it to scam newton!! brady will get robbed again this year. i can see rogers getting despite having a mediocre 10-6 record. i hope stafford beats him next sunday, but the lions are choking dogs! rodgers will light them up and clinch the trophy. maybe matt ryan but he doesn't get any publicity for some reason..

This does not take into account whether the suspension was justified or not. Many in the media don't seem to buy deflategate anymore. He's thrown 25 TDs and TWO interception...that's a 12:1 TD/INT ratio.

the real mvp - brady
who will win - matt ryan or aaron rodgers
who should win - brady
OPOY - zeke
1st team all pro - matt ryan

this is how i think it will go down. brady will not even be the 1st team all pro because he missed 4 games. it's funny how brady only won 1st team all pro twice (07, 10).

I suspect Ryan will probably win since he has put up the numbers and has played the whole season. That said, I think Brady deserves it. He has won just as many games as Ryan and one more than Rodgers.

Brady 10-1
Ryan 10-5
Rodgers 9-6

There's 52 other players who contribute to wins and losses, making them near-worthless when evaluating comparable players. Ryan and Brady both have strong supporting casts, have both put up incredible numbers (Ryan a bit more prolific, but Brady tossing fewer picks) and either is a completely defensible choice. I strongly suspect that Ryan playing four more games is going to be a tie-breaker, and really, shouldn't it be? Regardless how you define 'valuable,' playing more games should increase it, no?

Rodgers still doesn't belong, of course.

You forgot the media's new Peyton Manning, the for whom they'll change around the criteria every year to ensure he wins. He plays for Green Bay.
was just going to post that...Rodgers is the new Peyton Manning. We are about to get him jammed down our throats just like 5 head goober

If the MVP goes to the Best Player, then hands down it's Brady's.
But, Dak and Matty Ice have played lights out and there is no doubt that their teams wouldn't be anywhere near where they are without them.
The Pats went 3--1 without Brady (and would have gone 4--0 if Brissett wasn't playing with a busted thumb that needed surgery a day or so after the Buffalo game). That will work against him, fairly or unfairly.

But, more importantly, the damn award is a jinx in the SB. Let Dak or Matt have it.

It doesn't matter to me if Brady wins it or not. The same people who would vote for Ryan would somewhat hypocritically choose Brady as the best QB in the league.

"Who should get the MVP award?"
"Ryan"

"Who would you want on your team to make a playoff run?"
"Brady"

"Who should win coach of the year?"
"Garrett"

"Who is the best coach in the league?"
"Belichick"

It's a subjective award based on the opinions of writers most of whom would choose to have Brady as their QB and BB as their HC if they owned a team.

It seems that some posters feel that being suspended for four games automatically eliminates a player from MVP consideration, no matter how greatly he plays in the remaining twelve games. Talk about doubling the punishment on Brady for a fictitious offense.
