Chandler Jones trade worked out great

I like this tweet....a lot

What's amazing is Flowers didn't play as much in the beginning of the year, not to mention Flowers has played in a rotation, and wasn't involved much pre-bye week. Trading Jones also gave us cap for Marty Bennett. Guess Jones's prediction of 20+ sacks is gonna need some help.

What a shame. Collins could've made big contributions had he put the team ahead of his own needs

Was it Collins who refused to play the rest of the year? So, it is terrible that Collins refused to sign a team friendly deal and not wait for free agency.

Belichick got rid of Collins. He felt that we was OK at DE/OLB with Flowers, Long, McClellan and Van Noys available. I'm done with his decision. However, let's not make believe that Collins was somehow terrible for wanting to wait for free agency. Do you have the same criticism for Hightower? for Butler? for Ryan? for Harmon? Some have signed up early; most have not. Belichick CHOSE to move Collins.

Belichick thought that was OK at DE/OLB with Ninkovich, Sheard, Long and Flowers (and McClellan). After all, Belichick decided to take the choices PLUS a huge cap gain.

Even with just Ninkovich and Flowers, it didn't make sense to keep Jones for a one-year rental at a very high cap charge.

Not to mention comparing the snap counts:

Trey Flowers - 461
Chandler Jones snap count - 757

Brees dropped back 51 times today. 0 sacks and 0 QB hits.

Jesus. Jones shows up an AZ turns into ****.

I like Thuney, I think he's going to be a great pick and I agree it was a great trade. I liked it a lot, although I thought Scar would get more out of Cooper.

I do notice that whenever I've seen Thuney beat, it's almost always to his right. today it was both a spin and a swim. I don't know if that's obvious, maybe a left guard can't be beat to his left because of the tackle.

Mitchell has good hands, I remember Brady saying he had huge hands like Gronk. Hopefully Floyd can pick up the offense quickly or at least the plays that are similar to Notre Dame ones. I wonder how good he is at blocking and if he can play an Aaron Hernandez type role. Not that Hernandez was a great blocker though.

Not a blip of a sack in the past 4 games, but 8 sacks this season. Typical season for Jones.

I wonder how many nagging injuries he currently has.

I think Jones will settle in somewhere as a situational pass rusher ...
He just doesn't have the stamina to be an every down player for the season.
Not that there's anything wrong with that if the salary is adjusted.
someone is going to give him a lot more money than situtational passer money.

That's exactly my main issue with Chandler Jones in the end. Great value on a rookie contract but completely overpaid on an edge rusher market deal. Every move has to be seen through the prism of salary cap implications relative to the player's ability.

Jones was always highly overrated on this forum. So long as the Pats were able to replace his production (and they have), the trade was an excellent deal.

pass rushers get overpaid, it happens.
