Just one last thing that kind of irks me a bit with the media coverage of the Floyd DUI saga. While there no getting around Floyd's Monday DUI and there is no doubt that there will be a reckoning when it eventually gets adjudicated in the spring. However what gets me is when the media lumps the DUI he got in college and the "underage drinking" charge he also got in college (you mean, there is drinking going on in colllege, OMG! )
While those things are real, they make it seem like the guy has been on a constant binge since college when in fact there has been over FIVE years between incidents. And the media, when they are trying to dictate a narrative, don't seem to want to make that distinction.
So my issues with Floyd go more to point of finding out WHY his production and snap count have decreased and the obvious disatisfaction by the FO with his play. In my opinion they clearly had no interest in bringing him back, and when he royally f*cked up, they cut him to send a strong message to a locker room that the FO and coaching staff are clearly not happy with this season.
So I think the Pats lucked out. It was a confluence of the Cardinal's need to make a strong statement to the locker room with an under performing player being the perfect scapegoat, and the Pats need at WR, and the fact they had plenty of cap room to take on the salary and not have to wait until he cleared waivers to make their move.
Immediately, its a simple fact of him being a better option than Griff Whalen. Long term its anyone's guess.
