Blount pace to rush for most yards by a Patriot RB since 2004

For those that miss the master class in tap-dancing, maybe we should bring Maroney back!

Fun fact: Maroney is only one year older than Blount.

2004 Dillion is listed as having 1,635 yards for the season. Does anyone know if that includes the post season?

Nope he had another ~300 or so in the postseason. I remember there was talk that if he hit 100 yards in SB39 hed have a shot at 2k yards.

I was never a huge fan of his until this season. It really is like watching a different player. Whether it is him, or the OLine, or both, I don't know. It isn't just OLine I don't think: he seems quicker and more decisive on his cuts, finding the little sliver of daylight and pounding through.

I am not the best at evaluating that kind of thing, but it looks like that to me...

Clearly the O line has helped but I don't remember him running over (see Weddle on his ass) or carrying multiple defensive players into the endzone last year.

I've always liked the guy character wise but last year I didn't think he ran hard enough. I was wrong. The guy has been a beast this year. Love it.

I just think last year he really suffered because of that putrid O line.

Let's also not forget that James Develin's return this year has played a big factor as well. It's easy to forget about him, but he's a damn good player.

Great point. I do forget to add his contribution.

I love me some Develin. He's like the Easter Egg of the Patriot's offense.

Having an effective Blount will be absolutely huge for Brady and the offense.

No more sitting back in dime and rushing a few unless you want Blount to get 5+ yards or more a carry.

Me gut tells me Blount is going to be a biiiiig time part of the gameplan against Denver.

That's Denver's one weakness on defense this year, and it's a big one.

Blount looked like a walking corpse last season and the beginning of preseason. Either he saw the writing on the wall or someone on the coaching staff lit a fire under his ass to kick it up a gear. He looks like a completely different player out there.

He must have anticipated your criticism and got in tremendous shape and lost weight instantly in preseason.

That's the difference between blount and a runner like Law firm. The Jets calculated they could withstand some solid runs by Law firm, so they blanketed crossing routes and shut down the outside with their great corners [then]. If they tried that with Blount, he'd rip their hearts out, gaining more yards, the deeper he got into the second level.

Im in a this camp too. Never understood the Blunt sucks argument. Show me a back who's produced more over the past three seasons while making, more or less, the veteran minimum.
It's amazing how a narrative forms and is just accepted. This is LGB's lowest YPC of his career (in which he had significant number of carries) but people thought he was a scrub or dancing at the line before this.

he looked fine in preseason and looked fine last year, fans just were mad that he wasn't a top 5 back. Dont get me wrong though he looks very good this year too.

to be fair its stilla good YPC and almost the same as his last year, the primary difference has been that he has had more carries than he has ever had before in a season. If blount gets 40 more carries then he will have more carries than he did with his total number from 2014 and 2015 put together.
