Yeah, I thought that was weird too. The player doesn't have a choice if claimed. Seems weird that other teams would cater to the whims of a fringe roster guy. I suspect that Howe's misspeaking, and he means that several teams reached out to him to see if interested in joining their practice squads and that Foster chose the Patriots'. But I could be wrong of course.

I have a feeling Cleveland was one of those teams asking him to join their PS. Convo probably went:

Glad this played out for the Pats after tough PS losing streak w guys like KGH, LeBlanc, Roberts, A Johnson ..

Good timing this time helped. Some interested teams are just getting their IR-ed guys back to the 53 and was harder to find place for Foster than a couple of weeks ago I guess.
More importantly they probably guessed other teams see Foster as a prospect and not NFL late season ready player.

Foster and Jones were actual binkies before the draft so Im pumped both are here.

I'm just not the biggest White fan but hes played pretty well and Foster never really got a chance. I believe he can be a better player eventually and so excited he's staying.

Without getting too much into it, A. St didnt use him right his last year there. Some of it might have been Fosters fault but he shouldn't have moved to wr. He's a duel threat guy that needs to be moved around. Chess piece.

Maybe they let him know he would likely be waived later and he didn't want to be bouncing around and sees a more permanent opportunity with the Pats.

Third Down RB's are a dime a dozen in Today's NFL the Patriots might be in the market for a young RB in the upcoming Draft Blount is getting up there. Also both Lewis and White have a year left under contract I see us re-upping Lewis who is Great when not ask to carry the load. I hope our next young RB have upside as a Pass catcher like Le'Veon Bell and David Johnson makes life so easy.

GOOD 3rd down backs are not a dime a dozen. They never have been.. This is another myth perpetuated by people who don't fully understand the game.

<3333333 I was quite pleased with the news indeed. That he expressed a desire to stay here makes me that much happier. Looking for big things from Foster is 2017 - he could take White's job with some development (not that I dislike White).
