Dion Lewis Update

Nearly 100 yards per game, over 5 receptions per game at 10+ ypc, and 4.8 ypc behind an atrocious OL last year.

I'm guessing some NFL fans forgot how good Dion was in limited time. The 2nd best RB Brady's ever had.

Now please stay healthy. Can't wait to see him.

Been looking forward to see Lewis back in action...as guys say, limit the snaps and get back to game fitness over next few weeks.

Memory tells me they don't use 2 RB formations (not counting Develin). Wonder if that changes with Lewis, especially if Hogan is out?

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWW

Along with Gronk he is just as fun to watch when he gets the rock. Gronk just runs through you, Dion runs around you. Man I hope he is 90% + we will be unstoppable.

I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see Dion getting an equal or greater share of the load until the playoffs. James White has definitely earned his play time.

I agree. Whos load is the question

Ever since TB12 came back White has been seeing about ~36 snaps a game and Blount about ~31.

Blount has been averaging about 20 carries a game and White about ~4 catches

Since Lewis averaged about 12 touches a game last year I suspect he'll get 2-3 carries and 2-3 catches a game (which is about what KFaulk did here) up to the end of the year.

Id be surprised - and scared - if they use him for rushing tomorrow.
A good way to ease him in .. and test him and make him productive and confuse Hawks D somewhat .. would be to use him as a receiver & blocker/blitz picker in passing game, play-action and screens. Try some 22 looks.
Id love to see a couple of outside runs though ..

I think it would be wise to lower our expectations of what we will get from Lewis. Not only is he coming back from 2 surgeries (one major one), he hasn't done much in the way of football activities for over a year. The team has had close to 100 practices since TC, and Lewis has had under 10. To say he's a little behind, is an understatement.

Last season, for a short time, Lewis showed that he CAN be a dymamic player in an explosive offense. To expect the same kind of explosiveness after such a serious injury and a long layoff would be unfair to the player. Where he was great last season, I'll settle for good.

That being said, where he CAN be a big upgrade for the offense is by being a legitimate running threat when he's in there. White has been an overacheiver and very effective in the passing game, both as a receiver and blocker, however he still poses no threat as a runner.

I like White a lot, he has been solid this year for us. Obviously Lewis is a much more versatile player, but we don't know how he will be post injury.
It would be nice to have a healthy team when the playoffs start.

I want Lewis to play full-go, but I also want BB to limit him to maybe 8-10 snaps a game for at least a couple games, and then keep him with a pretty balanced share of the work with White through the end of the year - then use him as much as necessary in the postseason.

I've advocated Lewis and white in the backfield, with possible shifts.

Would be stupid if they don't use some packages that feature both.

Dear Patriots coaching staff:

Wait 'til next week on this one.

Thanks

I usually agree with you, but why wait? It has been 50 weeks from his injury? 51 weeks is a lot better? Everyone heals differently - how would we on the forum discern a 50 versus 51 week healing cycle?
