Dion Lewis Update

Those past teams have nothing to do with the current team. Completely different players at most positions.

The key players are still here TB12, Gronk, Edelman and you could say that every year the Pats team is different because there is massive turnover. 2014's defense was the best defense they have had in the previous 10 years, I would say going back to 2004. And in 2014 they stayed relatively healthy on offense and they had a good defense especially against the pass.

Great example (in too many words) how futile the statistic game is.
Its obviously fun for some. Passion for others. And here and there we have a few obsessed as well.

Here what coach says for those not going for the article.

“Pass rush is a very difficult thing to quantify, if you will,” Daly said Tuesday, via NESN. “A lot of people want to judge it based on sack numbers (and) quarterback hit numbers. I think there’s a lot of other things that go into play there: keeping scrambling quarterbacks in the pocket, forcing quarterbacks that aren’t as mobile to move out of the pocket, the kind of marriage of coverage and rush. And certain times game plan-wise, you may be — we may sacrifice some pass rush to take away a back or a tight end.

“The reality is, you’re trying to affect the quarterback. However you get that done to be more successful is what the ultimate goal is in winning the game. So, I think it’s a very difficult thing to put your finger on in terms of ‘is it successful, is it not successful?’”

And similar can be said for other aspects of the game as well.

Sorry, Dion. Looking forward this thread turns back to you .. on the field!

Yep.

Some stats are helpful. Some are part of a puzzle which coupled with other stats tell a story that has context. Some are useless.

I would like to see TB start getting the ball to Mitchell. Seemed like JG was developing a nice thing with him. Just one more thing for apposing D's to wet their pants over.... Oh, and bring Dion back slowly when he's 110% good to go........ Drive for Five!

Hate to comment on yet another non-Dion item in this thread, but totally agree on Mitchell. I think there's some important groundwork that can be laid for future success by getting the guy more involved this year. He's shown a toughness and some ability, let's bring it along.

Totally agree. I would like to see what Mitchell can do and try to bring him along a little more.

Mitchell has to:

Stay healthy
Learn route adjustments
Get open

How many of the above has he accomplished this season?

Mitchell is not needed at this Time Offense is healthy let him continue to learn with the Scout Team. Also with Gronk averaging 22.0 per catch and Hulkamania Hogan averaging 20.0 per catch might be some of the reasons why Mitchell is not seeing time. I expect Edelman to have a Big Second half he was not 100% early one. And Danny have just been Solid and James White is an absolute Beast in the receiving department nuff said!

So when Dion is activated, who gets the axe ? Johnson? Foster?
