Don't think anybody here would imagine something like this before the season ..
Kudos to Dante, BB we trust and of course Marcus. Keep it up!

Right tackle: Marcus Cannon, New England Patriots, 83.8

With Carlos Dunlap on the other side of the line of scrimmage, Marcus Cannon deserves special mention for not just playing well, but doing so against excellent opposition. He consigned Dunlap to the worst day of the DE’s season, allowing just two total pressures on 41 pass-blocking snaps and run blocking well against a tough defender.

Best Player at Every Position in Week 6

Actually my first response would be that is proof that PFF is just utter trash. However, having just watched the game (finally!), I don't remember Cannon being mentioned or doing anything to be noticed. I guess that is a good thing.

Is PFF more legit these days? I tend to assume they are trash.
Their pressure stats or coverage stats are good. Their ratings are by-and-large useless though, other than for giving a general direction of how a player played. I have no idea how they are coming up with them (and pretty much in real-time too, they have their ratings online directly after the game has ended) and I think of the idea of ranking players on a 1-100 scale rather dubious. But of course such a system sells well, people love a single number which is supposed to tell them how good a player is.

That said, Cannon has stepped up his game this season. The RT position isn't the dumpster fire that was feared after Vollmer got IR'd.

All ratings are trash essentially. Still nice to see Cannon on top after being bashed here for over a year. Whatever the rating - the important thing is he did play good against no other than Dunlap and contributed important piece to 2nd half victory march.

He walks the walk this year after silently playing through injury most of last year. Coaches believed in him, invested in him and he is responding and returning. And we who talk the talk have a great chance to say, sorry Marcus, good job!

Nice to also see Gronk, Hightower, and Butler on the list. Chandler Jones was rated the best edge rusher.

Yes both the games and these boards have been fairly quiet on the topic of Cannon so that is indeed a good thing after 6 weeks.

Cannon's transformation has been amazing... kudos to Cannon for his work, and Dante for his guidance... I mean, last week he was...

...whereas... last season he was...

The game wasn't televised out here, so I followed the game thread for my updates.

I assumed the entire OL had been rated 0.00 based on that...

Good point, the OL was DEFINITELY shaky as a group.

It's viewed as "more legit" now because Cris Collinsworth bought it and turned SNF into one long PFF commercial. Not much else has changed.

I wish Gruden had bought it,

"Now here's your starting lineup for the New England Patriots"

Tom Brady tied 1st PFF ranking
LeGarette Blount tied 1st PFF ranking
Julian Edelman tied 1st PFF ranking
Chris Hogan tied 1st PFF ranking
Nate Solder tied 1st PFF ranking..

PFF Rankings are good "indicators" of how a player did during a game. Of course you have to take some of it with a grain of salt because they are dealing only with partial information. The don't know the calls, adjustments and final individual responsibilities when the ball is snapped. Only the players and coaching staff know that info.

Now comparing him against other players is probably a fool's errand, but it makes people feel good. Everyone loves a good rankings list and theirs is as good or bad as anyone else's.

All that being said, this IS a good indication that Cannon had a good game against a very good DE, and certainly deserves any kudos for his performance that he gets, as rare as those are, from people here. Well done, Marcus.

I just don't want to see cannon 1 on 1 matched up against von miller. I still have nightmares of him getting utterly destroyed before he even took a step to block.

Id actually like too see that re-matchup with Cannon healthy on Dante's OL and w team in better general shape. It would be a nice test of his capabilities going forward. By now he's shown that he can be a solid player when healthy and in good hands. That said in my eyes Fleming is a better player with better potential.
