Giardi: Garoppolo "extremely disappointed" he couldn't play Sunday

I really don't care. I think this will work out better for the Pats. I think if he played yesterday, Garoppolo could have hurt his trade value this offseason. I want the Pats to get as much as they can for him.

Frankly, I didn't see any difference in Brissett's throws, so I don't think the thumb is a topic.

He held has hand on the sidelines a few times.

Over threw pretty much everyone, besides the one play to Bennett. The 3rd down air mail to a wide open Amendola was mind boggling, especially since there was no pressure in the pocket. My dog could've hit that throw.

It was pretty obvious he wasn't 100% himself.

With the benefit of hindsight, I agree.
Exactly. The only thing I can argue, assuming there was any way Jimmy G could even play, because we do not know that, is he should have been active, then could have relieved. Bringing him in at the start of the second half may have made a difference.

That's who he is.

Great ?? Based on 6 qtrs???

He looked good.....over 16 games, who knows.....

He looks to be a starting caliber NFL QB...but GREAT ??????

If he ends up on another team, I'm sure we will be rooting for him unless he's playing for us ( or ends up a Jet) :)

he looked a hell of alot better than Brady did in his 1st 6 quarters.........and yes, especially against the dolphins, he looked great....not good, great

hmmm...I wonder how many QB's first starts looked better than Brady"s......

and how many are HOF caliber or even still playing now......

Let's have JG get a season or two under his belt to make some kind of determination on just how Great he is.....

I agree and, given the great concern at the QB situation, can only presume that the staff ultimately felt JG was of no value to even bother dressing.

I don't know how people are bashing Garopollo without being a doctor and without evaluating him themselves.

Are you telling me he couldn't execute a short to intermediate passing game on Sunday while handing off to Blount more than 20 times? He looked decent on Sept. 28.

I'm really torn on this one.

I'm reluctant to second guess what the Patriots staff and Garoppolo say; if it's a lie, they get a lot of credit for keeping their story straight...somebody there probably should run for president. :)

Most importantly JG had too much to gain by playing...another good game could have meant millions to him and a so-so game would have been given an "injured" asterisk. By asking not to play, he'd enable people (see this Board) to question his toughness, which would take money out of his pocket.

So, I'm buying that it was a Team decision that he not play and that Garoppolo is telling the truth when he says he wanted to play and was disappointed at the decision. I've read the arguments against that and, to save other posters the time, I disagree with them.

But, I will agree that it is fair to ask whether Brissett gave them a better chance of winning than a sub-par Gaaroppolo. I don't think he did.

Which leads me to wonder that the "real truth" might be that BB and McDaniels decided that (even though Garoppolo could have started) at 3--0 without Brady they were playing with house money and were better off not risking further injury to Garoppolo against a Ryan Defense, if he has to take over at some point in the season.

On that scenario, they decided to put the game on the shoulders of Blount and the D.

The D, in general, did its job (one TD, none after the first quarter, but it is fair to say that they couldn't get off the field and allowed the Bills to run the clock).

But the offense couldn't stay on the field, Rex took away the run, Special Teams made multiple errors, Goskowski missed a 49 yarder (on a day when AV made 49 and 53 yarders on a wet field in London, clocking his 32nd and 33rd consecutive FG's, albeit in a losing cause) and the plan went south.

Those passes were at the line of scrimmage, except for the last, which he threw with the trajectory of a 50 yard bomb, to get it 25 yards.
Yeah he looked decent.

I agree starting JG with a larger playbook and experience would seem to be logical...so he can't make longer throws ..at least he gives Josh a larger selection of plays to call and probably could decifer some of Rex's defenses faster than Jacoby.....possibly even change a few plays at the LOS......but we'll never know unless TB gets injured and can't play at some point in the future...I don't even want to think of that possibility...

I believed he wanted to play as finanacially, it was the most important game for him.

Maybe JG suffered a setback.

Maybe BB received a phone call that had a to good to refuse offer on the other end..

Maybe this ......maybe that..... maybe....

One thing that I vividly remember is what he did after he took that hit which injured his shoulder. He did not want to leave the game. He tried to stay on the field but realized his arm was junk. I imagine that his shoulder hurt like a mother fr but his instinct was to stay on the field.

So whatever the reason was it wasn't because he's a p***y.

I disagree. In the YouTube video many of those passes traveled approximately 15 yards, some went even further. Isn't that enough distance to hit crossing routes and throw screen passes, maybe even take a shot 20 yards down field? Garoppolo's quick release would have given him an advantage over Brissett, not to mention Garoppolo's experience in the system.

Furthermore, does anyone deny that Brady would have played with the same injury? We've seen him do it countless times since 2001.

Its amazing how short sighted some of you are. Your picking apart a video of what a minute of JG throwing passes and think he was good to go???

LMFAO Seriously??? Breaking News...he didn't play!

The PATRIOTS expected him to be good to go. The video is only their to support the Patriots belief that he was going to start yesterday.

Please provide evidence you have to prove this.

If you said "hoped" instead of "expected" then I would agree.

Everything I have read/heard was that they put him though a workout yesterday morning and he could not make all the throws to BB's satisfaction.

sorry guys.........the pats would not have won with garoppolo or brady yesterday......the team was an empty shell
