We needed this loss!

I know this comes off as a negative post, but I think this loss will make this team stronger and better than ever, just like that loss against KC couple years back.
While I don't think this loss was necessary, it can have some upside. Going 4-0 would have been a massive confidence boost; however, going 4-0 without Brady might have made the team feel invincible and suffer a bump down the line as opposed to now.

The defense looked awful, but only managed to give up 16 points with the offense doing very little to give any support. The qb position was, in hindsight, going to give the team little to no chance to win today with an injured rookie who was drafted as a long-term project being tasked with leading us to victory.

The team seemed to sense this uphill battle and came out flat. I think the Houston game was a testament to the team wanting to send a message to America about their resolve. The 1pm time of this week's game, the fact the Bills usually roll over in Foxboro, and a lot of focus being on Brady's return these past few days, made this a trap game unlike most trap games.

And the team played with no confidence and no focus, an especially lethal combination.

You didn't read the whole post.
At the end I did say we will end up winning the division, we might not clinch homefield if Denver keeps playing like they have been.
I'm just hoping that Denver will reach their peak soon. They are still riding the wave from the end of last season and into the playoffs. Whether that type of momentum can continue all regular season remains to be seen.

Defense gave up 16 points, not 40. This game was winnable but Bill/Josh's gameplans failed miserably.

But honestly, that is only because the Bill's sucked so bad. A real team would have dropped 40 easy. Team came out flat and making mistakes from the very first play. To put that kid back in after that mistake is not what the Pats are about.

No it's not. Mostly, for the sheer fact that this one loss could be the difference between hosting the AFC Championship game or going on the road to a place like Denver.

We conceded 16 points, and our QB was barely able to chuck the ball due to injury. I would step away from the ledge and remember that if any other team score 16 points against us, Brady will give us the win.

I would have hated to be here in the 5-11 days

After the inception of flying elvis (the Bledsoe era) we were 64-66, 67-70 including playoffs. '02 would have been the perfect time to retire it.

Looks like now we're all off to Cleveland...

Denver...Denver...Denver sucks. They suck eggs.

The Broncos do not present our biggest challenge this year. Not if we are going all the way.

I have them winning the division. I don't see them getting home field throughout unless Denver loses 3-4 regular season games ( Including to us). Comparing schedules, that isn't likely.

I always liked Coughlin and Belichick even though they had Giants ties, but I was slow to acknowledge Parcells because I associated him with the Giants.

I was fortunate to miss most of yesterday's game, as I took my daughter to visit a local college. The weather matched the day for the Patriots.

This morning, I took her to another tour in Hartford. The Dean of admissions there is a New York guy, an old fogie like me so we reminisced about the sixties. He talked about him and his friend meeting Namath in the parking lot when he pulled up in his car for practice, and he took a picture of them together. Never happen today, like that. Anyway, I mentioned the logo and he said that Parcells, when he came there, was the one who insisted they "go back to their roots" and restore their real logo.

It was Parcells.

We had him here in '80, and he left for NY after that. Then, when he came back in '93, Orthwein/Kraft never asked his opinion on the subject (he totally prefers Pat Patriot).

People want to know are there things the Patriots have done, that I'm not proud of?

Yes. This.

We will know about this team pretty soon. In pittsburgh and a home game against seattle.

I don't agree with the premise that we "needed" a loss - or even "this loss"

But I think your ultimate conclusion as to whether this makes the team stronger or weaker for the remaining games is correct.

The thing about a Belichick coached team though is that even the wins are treated like losses with all the errors being something the coach addresses wit the players - so I don't think they ever need to lose and potentially squander a bye or home field advantage in the playoffs

Along these lines, while 19-0 would be great, I'd be ok with matching the record for wins in a season
