I Could Use Your Thoughts and Prayers

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep pushing forward with seeing doctors, getting tests, etc. I hope that you find a resolution very soon. In the meantime, all you can do is hang in there. One way or another, I hope that you find some relief soon. I have been in the same boat for almost 2 full years now, with a few different surgeries etc. It really sucks feeling as though your life is on "pause."

Are the surgeries helping?

Hello again,

August was better, but still feel generally terrible for a majority of the days (better at night). Blood work came back fine but my heart rate is consistently 100+ so I've been referred to a cardiologist. Doctor tested for thyroid, blood sugar, lyme, etc. Moved in to school a couple days ago and had to leave class today. The mornings to noon time are near misery. Lying down doesn't really help. Body just seems like it is in overdrive 24/7 and won't calm down.

I feel as if my life is being stolen from me. Probably the worst 2-3 months of my life. I miss feeling "normal"/good. Hope the mystery is figured out soon.
Prayers sent, they will figure it out

I pray the "mystery is figured out soon". Not knowing what's wrong and worrying about its severity is likely just exacerbating the problem.

Have you been tested for fibromyalgia? What you are describing sounds familiar to what I experienced when I developed fibromyalgia 25 years ago when I was only 28. Fibromyalgia is triggered by a trauma either physical or emotional or an infection. Your surgery could very well have been the trauma that triggered it in you.

There's a quick and easy test you can do for yourself to see whether you might have it. People with fibromyalgia have tender points on their body which are ultra sensitive to pressure. Most of these tender points are located on their upper chest and back, at the point of their rib cages and on the outside of their knees and elbows. If you should feel an inordinate amount of pain from the pressure applied on these points, you might have fibromyalgia.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray you feel better and stronger soon.

Eh, not particularly as of yet, Tony--although I don't want to take away from those in need of help on this thread. I'll be just fine (hopefully, eventually). My main point was simply that I can relate to the struggles, and to continue to hang in there.

Everyone has their issues, but yeah--the physical stuff can really wear on you, and it can lead to some anxiety and depression which can be another obstacle, not that I am meaning to complain. Like I said, this isn't about me. That said, I really appreciate your response and question. Thank you very much.

Gotcha. Will still wish you well.

Sorry to hear about this.

Has your doctor offered any thoughts?

Doctor seems perplexed. He thinks the surgery may have triggered something and the heart rate deserves further investigation. He says it is good the blood work came back normal.

Thanks man and well said. Everyone is dealing with something of their own that we do not know about. Good luck in your fight. In a forum with a good amount of homers and chicken littles, your level headed approach is great (my homerism gets the best of me ).

Thank you. I hope and believe that as well.

Interesting thought. In my search for answers (searching the internet for medical answers isn't always the wisest choice) I came across that. I would say I'm not particularly in pain but just feel horrid/sick for most of the morning/afternoon. I'll try to ask about that on the next visit.

It's bizarre. As I type this out at 1 AM I feel as if 80% healthy/old self. Yet I will probably read it tomorrow and wonder how the heck I wrote it as lay in bed feeling more run down than the flu. There is definitely a cyclical component to whatever this is. Hopefully answers are found soon and thanks for the thoughts and advice.

Today's my folks' 51st anniversary, so life's a little darker today.
hope this will help you. My father passed away when I was 22. My children who are now 22 and younger never met him.
I struggled with the anniversary of his death as well as his birthday always feeling down on those days.
Then one year when my kids were very little on my fathers birthday I went out and bought a balloon for each of us and we went outside and released them to send them up to heaven to grandpa for his birthday. We have done it on both his birthday and the anniversary of his death every year since. This seems to make those days easier to deal with perhaps you can create your own tradition.

@patsinthesnow make sure you keep us up to date

I will try to post more in depth tomorrow.

The doctor may have found an answer. I am suffering from what looks like autonomic dysfunction that was triggered by my surgery in early June. My heart rate is elevated and increases drastically (20-40 beats) when I stand. My heart is otherwise fine based off other tests.

She thinks it resembles POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). I was told women have a more difficult time with it (I'm a male) and patients do recover with time. Also, there is trial and error involved with medication. The beta blocker I was on two weeks ago made me feel worse so I stopped using it.

Honestly, part of me felt relief that this situation wasn't all in my head. Some stuff makes more sense with this news such as why sunny days feel brighter and more intense to me (light sensitivity). The symptoms seemed too physical to me to just be anxiety. I'm glad I decided to look into it more.

Some days I feel close to 80-90% back to normal. Some days suck. Luckily I am ahead in school as a senior so I am only taking 12 credits this semester. I am keeping a daily journal to track patterns and improvements.

Thank you all for prayers and wondering how I am doing. I appreciate it. Also, anyone know a friend/relative that has or had this condition?

I don't but hopefully if someone here has experience with it, they could help you

Not a doctor but it sure sounds like depression to me. Best wishes.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing but just in case I will throw this out there.

My mother suffered from something that caused her heart beat to rapidly rise and then eventually get back to normal. She had various symptoms but not sure which were due to the meds and which were due to her condition but she hadn't experienced anything until after the birth (surgery) of my brother.

Anyways she had surgery to burn off extra nerves from her heart and it got rid of it.

Apparently the condition lied dormant until the birth of my brother which has given me a life long ace up the sleeve when trash talking with him.

"Oh yeah? Well at least I didn't almost kill mom."

I hope you get over this soon.

If people here can pray for one of our soccer team Chapecoense. The plane crashed today 76 people died(could be less). They are a small team, everybody here was roting for them, full of young guys. One player was rescued alive just now after they declared all dead, so there is hope and if you guys can help praying i will appreciate. Thank you

Prayers sent to the families and victims of the plane crash, horrible sorry Brazil
