I can't understand all the "trade Ryan" talk here. Did everyone forget that in a particularly bad injury year, Ryan and Butler rarely missed a down. In today's NFL you HAVE to have 3 starting CB's, because there will be 3 on the field a majority of the the time. And since this is age of 3 starting CB's, you need good back ups for each of those positions. You don't trade your 2nd best CB HOPING that some UDFA will fill the role just because they had a good day or two in TC. So if "team building" is hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst, you DON'T trade a proven player. If this team is truly going to have depth, you really need at LEAST 5 CB's who are all capable of starting
10000 percent agree. I'm blown away by it myself. This team needs a player like Ryan, who is better than most #2's in this league, with the way the game is played and officiated. Someone even posted that Cyrus Jones, who has not played an NFL down - preseason, regular season, playoffs - is a Logan Ryan clone. What? I don't get some of the posts I've read the past two days or so.

how can you say he's logan ryan already? everything i've read so far bout him is he has a better skillset than ryan - let him play a full season.
sorry i meant that he is not logan already, but he is his clone. Coleman would replace Ryan if he was traded, then 3rd Cb spot battle will be betwen Roberts, Jonathan and Cyrus.

I'm with both you and PFK. It baffles the mind. And think about this, Ryan intercepted a team-leading four passes and broke up 10 more. The passer rating he allowed – 79.9 – was the best of all Patriots cornerbacks. He had a very good season last year, easily the best of his three-year career. Yes, he had safety help sometimes, but the more time and experience he gained, the more confidence he garnered facing a team's #2 WR one on one. You don't just trade a guy like that, especially when you wouldn't know who would replace that. Come on.

Yup. Ryan's only weakness really is that he is a bit inconsistent. But he had a stretch of about six or so games in the middle of last season that rivaled some of the best CB's in the game. He seemed to taper off a bit down the stretch, but that goes back to his inconsistency. But as far as everything else you want in a corner - smart, physical, aggressive, ball skills (tremendous) - he's got it. Sadly, I fear this will be his last season in NE.

Bennett has to be the funniest player to ever walk through the locker room. His soundbites this season, especially if he does live up to the hype, are going to be priceless. I just hope he doesn't get himself benched for the first series of any games this season.

Bennett is like a siberian tiger. Powerful and devastating if used properly and controlled by a trainer, like BB, who the tiger respects, but dangerous and potentially damaging to the team if controlled by an amateur who he doesn't.

We heard his recent comments about Cutler being the worst QB in the league, and from previous anecdotes he doesn't suffer what he considers fools.

He loves Gronk and Brady, and certainly respects BB. As long as he is "fed" properly he will be a great asset, but the chances for him to be disruptive are also there.

I'm really trying hard not to make it seem like I'm seeking out your posts and disagreeing with everything you're saying, but you're making claims that I have no idea a) how you're coming up with them and b) how you would support them. What has Coleman showed you to suggest he'd be an adequate #2 in this league already? I saw a player who played well at times and got burned quite a few more times. He is not ready at all to be this team's #2 and forcing him into that role would give QB's an opportunity to rip the defense to shreds if the pass rush is somehow not up to par. This team's chances of making a SB with Ryan as the #2 are vastly better than with Coleman as the #2.

If that isn't photo-shopped, then that guy on the right should be in camp wearing #10.
I already gave the Internet award for the month of August to Deus, or you would have gotten it! LOL

My thoughts exactly.. Ryan is worth more this year than what we would receive in return. I'd rather have Ryan as a solid, reliable #2 cb this year while the younger guys continue to develop..
Ryan is also going to get PAID in free agency, so there is a very realistic chance at us getting a 4th round comp pick for him in 2018 which are now tradeable, making comp picks a lot more valuable

So unless someone was willing to blow the doors off with an offer of like a 2nd round pick, I'd rather have his talent this year to help us try for a super bowl.

This team is STACKED, it's one of the best windows we've had for a title in awhile IMO... so I'd be hesitant to start trading away good starters that we may really need down the stretch, especially since we've been snake bitten by injuries these last couple years

Yeah, it makes ZERO sense to trade Ryan unless the compensation is ridiculous. That won't happen, so this subject should go away. I can't believe that there are actually people advocating this nonsense.

Was today a full padded session?

Biggest difference between trading Ryan and someone like Chandler Jones is that the 2016 salary cap wouldn't be a driving force.

I don't *want* to trade Ryan. He was an excellent #2 CB last year and is on a very cheap contract this year. It comes down to value in building a team though. If 5 weeks from now, after all the practices and 4 preseason games, if the coaching staff thinks that the team is extremely deep in CB and can survive both the loss of Ryan to trade, and the loss of others to injury, then it could be something to consider. Particularly if Cannon and Fleming still blow, Waddle shows nothing, and a quality 3rd tackle is available who is signed to a cheap multi-year contract (the scenario that BobDigital and Patsinthesnow mentioned). Then they might be willing to take the risk there in hopes of shoring up what could really be a disaster if Solder or Vollmer get hurt again. But otherwise, I'd be surprised to see it happen.
