Sports Authority owes Denver Broncos $36 million through 2035

Why Sports Authority Is Likely to Close All 463 Stores (Yes, they are closing doors)

This is the problem with corporate sponsors - you never know when they will get in trouble or shut down. Broncos will have to find another sponsor for their stadium, and it shouldn't be hard. Maybe Coors.

A recent thread on NASCAR-type sponsors on uniforms had me thinking of this problem proliferating.

I take no pleasure in businesses shutting down, but I will grin somewhat on the embarrassment to the Broncos.

I guess selling basketball shorts for $55 a pair wasn't such a wise business strategy after all. ****'s and Academy both crap all over Sports Authority anyway.

Sports Authority was good to shop at when it first came out. Cutthroat competition, high prices and the internet changed that in a hurry.

The internet is completely changint American life, and it's as much a problem as it is a benefit.

Lipton Field

You beat me to it.

I don't see the big deal. Too bad SA is crapping the bed but sorry. That's capitalism.

Maybe they can apply for a govt bailout. Oh wait, that isnt capitalism
I'm sure the Broncos could help out, they've always been finance savy.

I don't think the Broncos will suffer much from this. I can just imagine what they'll sell the naming rights for after winning a SB.

I bet the Broncos are laughing all the way to the bank because, as defending Super Bowl Champions, they will probably find a new sponsor for more money than they were scheduled to receive from Sports Authority. They're hardly the first team to change stadium names.

Remember when TD Banknorth had a new name everyday after being called the FleetCenter?

One of the up and coming cannabis-related companies in Colorado should buy the naming rights to it. Just imagine the marketing possibilities for Mile-High Stadium.

There is already a Coors Field. The Colorado Rockies of MLB play there.

It's too bad that Colorado drove out MagPul. It would be great if they stepped up and offered sponsorship.. Be all sorts of 2nd Amendment stuff.. *LOL*

They can pay in cash since banks cannot take pot money.

I'm pretty sure the league has to approve naming rights, and wouldn't in that case (which is not a First Amendment issue).
