Definitely a good idea to make the roster decidedly worse just to shake things up a little.

Yeah, the guy who knows a notoriously difficult system and is trusted by the team's quarterback and caught 65 passes in 14 games last season can certainly be easily replaced by any of this cheap and plentiful group of superstars waiting for a call from Belichick.

I'm not sure why you're being so cynical. Unless there's a mass text going out (which does happen), one person is going to be first and everybody else, even the Schefters, Rapoports, and Reisses of the industry, is going to find out when it's reported by somebody else. To the best of my understanding from talking to somebody similar, Loyko is hearing stuff from scouts that he's met at events like the Senior Bowl. Schefter is talking to execs and agents. Of course Schefter is going to break all the big moves before Loyko hears about it from whoever he's talking to.

Typical Patriots offseason to me. They are smart usually and have a set value to every player. They're not cheap either they will pay if the player is good enough perfect example when they paid for Revis. Hopefully by the time the season starts, we are in good shape to go for another title run.

Assuming he can be coached up to be decent he is still barely worth half the money he's getting.

That and Vollmer has a $6.2m cap number. $3m saved if they cut him. Can't imagine they do but you never know.

Either way at a minimum Cannon needs to take a pay cut.
