Why are people high on Mario Williams, what has he done lately?

Not much....maybe he would be good here who knows. But i really don't see this as. "omg lets get him!"

What had Jabaal Sheard done in Cleveland??

But 38 sacks in 3 years before Ryan came to Buffalo and Williams was miscast in his defense. He's a 4-3 guy not a 3-4 guy...

IMO he would be an upgrade over Chandler Jones.

Trade Chandler, sign Williams, re-sign Hicks, extend Sheard, say goodbye to Ninkovich after '16.

38 sacks in the last 3 season as a 4-3 DE.. Rex came to town and he didn't fit his 3-4 defense.

Cousin, I would have to agree with you. We might think Williams made the big coin and now wants a ring. Since 2012, Chandler has 35 sacks in 55 games and Williams has 43.5 sacks in 63 games. He has missed only one game. I have to agree, if you get Williams for reasonable and can get something superior back for Chandler be it pick or player, say like a Michael Floyd from AZ? You know we can't have Hightower, Collins, Butler and Chandler.

In a sampling over the last four years or since Jones was Drafted, Williams has had more sacks and more important has missed only one game. Honestly, Jones has missed 15% of the games since 2012. I think Williams who is about 30 lbs heavier sets the edge better. Jones is 5 yrs. younger which is a plus in his column ....BUT....how are you going to pay Collins, Hightower and Butler plus Jones?

It all depends on what Williams will take. Keep in mind BB Drafted Flowers and Grissom last year....why? He knows there might be a tough fit for all financially at the end of 2016. It also doesn't help matter with the PCP incident in Jones' resume.

I think most will agree that Jones starts the season great and wears down. How many agree on that?

It was out there Williams was willing to take a pay cut to stay, so maybe there is some money to be saved.

I like Jones. But if you can get a Pro Bowl replacement for less money and use Jones as wampum on a trade, why not.

I cant help but think BB didn't digest well Jones getting high as **** in a playoff week. We will know for sure if he pulls the trigger on a trade.

Even if he doesn't pull the trigger on a trade and lets Jones play out his deal in '16 before leaving, I think it's safe to say that BB didn't take the news of getting high during the most important week of the season (to that point) very well.

How about Mario, Nink, Jones, and Sheard. If you get Mario at a decent price and keep Jones but no new deal you aren't investing that much money. You would have to get creative how you use them to get them all reps but it should give you a pretty lethal pass rush. At the end of the season you might have to choose to let a few go but hopefully with rings.

Only underscores WR as a position of need. A tough one to fill given the number of misses here.

Outside of 1 catch Brian Tyms was an absolute non-factor in NE. Him not being re-signed doesn't underscore anything, he was a JAG PSer. and the emergence and extension of Keshawn Martin ended the tiny chance he had at being brought back.

Tyms was a JAG anyway. WR was a definite need with or without him. I just wonder how the Pats attempt to address it. I'm getting the feeling that we're going to see a FA splash there in the offseason.

I like Tyms but Marvin Jones and one of Gordon or the rebirth of Justin Hunter would make me soo happy.
However still some business yet to attend to.
Marcus Cannon and Brandon Lafail should not have lockers.

Uh oh, I think @dikembe might be inconsolable at this point! First Gray, now Tyms.....

Not by virtue of his production, but simply calling attention to the position. I refer specifically Edelman, LaFell and Amendola all still recovering from injuries. Nothing but question marks at the position. Tyms also was trying to recover from injury, perhaps unsuccessfully.

That's pretty drastic. It wouldn't be surprising if they had said that they won't give him an RFA tender, but a much bigger deal that he's already saying he won't return at any price.

Trade Chandler Jones for a solid pick(s) and then sign Mario Williams. The cap situation will probably stay the same, you get some much needed draft picks, and you may have even upgraded the position.

lets bring in roddy white.
