Not sure how much new is in here, but what I like is that the story continues to have legs as more follow-up pieces are released. Definitely not being brushed aside like the HGH allegation was.

It's unbelievable how many people are shooting the messenger. Florio is one of them right now.

I dislike Shaun King, but that doesn't make his article invalid. I (& many of us) knew the majority of details of the Manning case before the article anyway . You could argue he put a race-baiting spin on certain things, but that's about it.

Allegations of PED use and sexually assaulting and slandering a woman, the NFL looks to hire him. Meanwhile, they have spent $10 million and are still going to court to punish Brady because they did not understand basic science. This really could make it's way into an Idiocracy sequel.

I see someone on PFT trying to confidently claim that the trainer, Naughright, is the one who initially reported this to be a "mooning" and that she suddenly changed her story 7 years later thus making her a "liar".

Today’s social-media/talk-radio hot-take blast furnace abhors a vacuum. It’s not nearly enough for someone to objectively report both sides without bias and then allow the reader to reach his or her own conclusions. Everyone writing the words and reading them must have an opinion, and any new facts or developments or allegations will prompt not an honest, square-one reconsideration of pre-existing views but a funneling of the fresh information through cured-concrete beliefs to which everyone already has decided to cling.


In this case, it happened from the moment Shaun King of the New York Daily News received a 74-page document written by Naughright’s lawyers in an effort to beat Peyton and Archie Manning in court, fundamentally misunderstood (deliberately or not) the nature and purpose of the document, failed to do any additional reporting (including seeking comment from Manning or his lawyers), and fashioned a #longread that accepted every allegation in the 74-page document as true and summarized it like a 10th grader scribbling out a connect-the-dots book report.

Gee, Polian had no trouble smearing Brady's character. But when it's one of "his" guys and there actually is wrongdoing to criticize the player over, well, everyone needs to slow down.

Also, Polian said he considered Aaron Hernandez undraftable coming out of college. Conveniently, he only revealed that after Hernandez was arrested for murder. It does make you wonder, though, how much digging he did into Manning's incident in college. Did he just accept the "mooning" cover story or did he learn what really happened and then made the decision that every team that drafts a player with some baggage does - "This guy is way too talented to pass up."

In a nutshell (no pun intended):

I was a star student and athlete at UT and won a lot of awards. I am a ProBowler and led the Colts to the playoffs.

I mooned a teammate while the trainer was working on my foot. I didn’t think she saw anything. She never indicated she saw or was offended by it.

I found out that night that she had seen it. I tried to contact her many, many times to apologize—to no avail.

I got in trouble with my coach and had to run laps for two weeks and was banned from eating with the guys at the training table. I lost weight and was tired because of crappy food I had to eat instead of what I would normally eat at the training table.. I am the victim here.

The trainer says a lot of bad words. I have not ever heard a woman speak in such a vulgar manner.

I wrote a book that tells my view of the mooning incident.

I accept that I mooned someone in her presence. I have nothing against her, though she has a vulgar mouth.

Nobody told me when my book was published that any parts of my story were false
