The more time that goes on, the more I have trouble rooting for Kraft

Most people here seem to be leaving Godildo blameless while firing missles at Kraft. I find that "odd".

I seem to remember something negative someone posted here once or twice about Goodell...

Deliberately obtuse is the order of the day. Let's start off slowly:

1. Robert Kraft owns the Patriots.

2. The two most prized assets to the Patriots are Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

3. Both guys have ushered in an era of unprecedented success for his franchise.

4. Prior to them coming along, the franchise wasn't nearly as lucrative as it is today.

5. Winning, as a result of the aforementioned two, has put asses in seats and sold food and beverages at a high rate in his stadium.

Therefore, the two most prized assets to HIS business, which is the New England Patriots, are Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. The former he failed to back up after Deflategate and instead chose to hug the guy leading the charge against him, the latter he called a "schmuck" and allowed the media to form their own opinions about what happened without challenging them or the draconian punishment passed down upon the league once.

Tommy, go back to the PoFo. Talking football is not your strength.

So your logic is that you shouldn't appeal even though you know you did nothing because you think you will lose the appeal? That is ridiculous. Glad Brady didn't feel that way.

Kraft could have appealed. He could have challenged the findings, and even Goodells authority. He could have refused to accept Goodell/Wells findings, and refused to accept the punishment, making it a league issue, and making owners choose sides, and creating a knock down drag out fight.
He could have done this by having his own independent investigation done, by challenging Wells and Goodell, and if necessary going to court over it.
He could have supported Tom Brady. He could have said 'he better be' when asked if he expected Brady on the field week 1 instead of saying 'I hope everyone who deserves to play plays' he could have been the lead witness at the Brady's appeal, rather than refusing to testify. If his vacation was more important, he could have hurried from the airport to the hearing. If that was too much he could have not refused to testify by phone.
He could have stopped hugging Goodell.
I could go on.

I think the idea of anyone rooting for their team's owner is a strange one. There's a reason that most sports movies use the owner as the villain or (in the best of cases) a weasel who is still a necessary evil because he/she funds the team. I think people are hurt because Kraft has always marketed himself as a fan first, and it turns out he's just like any other owner. But in hindsight that should have been expected.

That is correct. He's making a lot of money period. I don't agree with what he did either. As a matter of fact, you'll probably find many posts where I show my anger from it. I'm just saying he is not going against his golden goose. I really hope I'm wrong. There is nothing I would like more than for him to go against the other owners. Goodell works for the owners. The owners run the NFL. Kraft may be legally bound to not contest it. Maybe there's a loop hole. I would also like to see TB sue the crap out of them too.

He had the right to appeal. I'm sure he has the legal right to challenge the findings by Ted Wells, even if can't take legal action vs the NFL itself.
The idea that bending over makes him more money, or implying that he would lose his team or something stupid like that if he stood up and didn't let himself get bamboozled is ridiculous and only the fodder of Kraft apologists looking for a reason they can invent.

Brady also knew he would lose the appeal to Goodell, as his legal team said so from the beginning. However, you have to exhaust available internal options before a US court would even consider hearing it. So, Kraft essentially ensured he could never, ever appeal this to anyone, ever, because he didn't even opt to appeal, which was wide open to him and part of the NFL's process.

Maybe I haven't made my point clearly enough.

Although I don't agree with the way Kraft handled defamegate in 2015 and crygate in 2007, that is not the reason I'm dumping the NYJFL. It's because of their intention to influence the games on the field.
