I'd take a shot on Mike Wallace for sure. His reputation has taken a hit, so a One year deal for a reasonable salary is definitely possible.

He's not a physical guy though. He's your standard deep threat that's not to keen about going over the middle. He's got game changing speed that would force a defense to have to back off and play a little softer.

So if you took a shot on him i would hope there would also be someone else coming in to run those tough routes over the middle like an Anquan Boldin type.

What's your definition of a "reasonable salary," though? I think Wallace is still a 8-10m dollar receiver, and it's not too likely that Belichick is going to pay an outsider more than 2x what they pay Edelman.

A Tremendous Flanker Talent who should indeed be available for a Bargain Basement Price after missing all of 2015, and who should also be 100% ~ so to speak ~ in plenty of time for Camp and perhaps OTA's, so I love your Thinking on this...But that 2014 Injury was a Patellar Tendon Tear. He'll most probably never be what he was, and it's also highly in doubt that his Health will ever again be reliable.

02 ~ Michael Wallace. Double Threat Guy. Yeah, you get yourself a Terrell Owens level of Prima Donna with all the whining, pissing, and moaning, combined with a Brandon LaFell level of Production.

One must remember. The quality and quantity of the 2016 FA WR Class after Jeffrey is nyet. There will be CAP cuts and those two are mentioned.

More Trades/Cuts?
I'd mentioned Justin Hunter as a Trade possibility but am luke warm on him. Cordarrell Paterson might be available. He probably is looking at his last shot to be a real NFL WR. Minn. is run first so good luck on that there. But on the other hand might not work out here at WR but is a tremendous K.O. talent. The bad on that is we don't need Bethel Johnson or Brandon Tate #2.

This kid was a first rounder. Someone had to see and upside and he is big and fast.

His Super Bowl production was "Dion Branch-ish". Super Bowl XLV Wallace had nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. Cousin, could we have used those numbers in the playoff? Yes?

Another FA WR lying in the weeds like a typical BB pick up is Chris Givens on the Ravens. Young, speed and size but was underutilized by Jeff Fisher and when Flacco got hurt after he was traded to the Ravens, he was mediocre with no QB talent.

In this years Draft we are all hoping for a miracle. The second coming of Megtron is there at #60 waiting to be plucked. The WR class in the Draft is weak unlike the last two years.

Thank you for your thoughts. I spend time on these for enjoyment and reasonable commentary. I enjoy and respect both positives and negatives as every poster on this forum would have to agree I do.

I am not a great Wallace fan but he fills the need of a WR to take the top off and move some Safeties deeper for Gronk and Edelman. Unlike some posters, I believe he is a fit for reasons:

1)Speed (you know...the old "Takes the top off the ball")
2)He is not a small WR. Only 6t lbs less than LaFell.He has a 4" higher vertical too.
3)He averages 60 catches a year for his seven years in the League even with the likes of the inconsistent Tannehill (also 10 TDs!!! on that Team) and the run first Vikes.
4) Has bigger hands than the dropsies LaFell does which might have merit to consider his issues
5) Was clutch player in Steelers SB win. His own Team Mates said he ran more than just flys. He ran"clean" routes.
6) This is huge. ................He has missed only one game in seven years. We have no receiver than can say that. The guy stays healthy.

The Bad:
1) Prima donna? Maybe or just "wants the damn ball". You know that is corrected here by BB.
2) Money? Is money still the #1 with him or is it his legacy? He has only had one Pro Bowl (2011)
3) Would he do an incentive laden deal or is he $8mm take it or leave it? If so moot point.
4) In his best year 2011, he was rated by PFF as in the top 20 best hands (13) in the NFL. He also had a good QB. Has his drop ratio increased?

I would rather Jeffrey or Gracon maybe. All three of them will cost. Who takes less?

Wallace has major attitude problems, can't run routes, and has worn out his welcome in 3 places. Terrible fit here.

The reasons mike wallace wont work here are two fold.

1.)brady was underthrowing EVERYONe this year when going deep.
2.) Wallace doesn't fight for the ball.

Signing wallace would mean adding 3-4 ints to bradys season, and not a lot of TD's. The patriots are a Yac team.

He should be looking for a one year contract to revive his career and get a better long-term contract in 2017. That one year contract should be with a team that is going to incorporate planned deep shots into their offense, not a team that wants him to be a deep decoy to open things up for Gronk and Edelman. The Cardinals would be a really good spot for that if they didn't already have their WRs in place. The Bills could be one option that makes sense after Harvin didn't work out last season. About 9.2% of Tyrod Taylor's pass attempts were 30+ yards down the field as opposed to Brady's 3.4%, and I would guess there's an even greater disparity if we take out passes that were basically throwaways.

Good points all. I would say Ravens but they are in CAP hell. Detroit comes to mind with Stafford's arm now that Megatron has retired, but it can't be a trade within division I would guess. Indy, but don't know their CAP.

An intruiging one would be Andre Johnson, if he gets cut he could be that physical big WR on the outside and a big upgrade over Lafell

If Wallace would be happy to come here on a veteran minimum salary and play bout 10-15 snaps a game like Donte Stallworth did in 2007, then he might be an option. He isn't a full time player in this offense.

And we know he will not be happy to be a deep pass specialist who only sees the field a dozen times a game.

Wallace and Laffell while somewhat similar in size are in no way comparable in play style. Laffell will block like hell and fights physically to get open. Wallace doesn't and will run by you or he won't be open.

Maybe it is me who's misreading the market? I didn't realize that he only had about 40 catches last year. I thought he was still doing a little better than that.

Alshon Jeffrey will be getting about 13-14m dollars a year no matter what, and there's a possibility that he could even top the pacts given to Thomas and Bryant at 5/70.

I don't think we could expect him to produce anything close to Pittsburgh or even Miami, since both Edelman and Gronk would be seeing targets first.
