What has been the biggest surprise of the Patriots that you did not expect during this offseason thus far?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adalius Thomas getting signed by the Patriots who began opening the wallet to garnish his services as top FA in 2007?

Randy Moss taking a pay cut to join the Patriots?

Tom Brady becoming a daddy?

New England raiding the Miami Dolphins roster and taking away some players?

Letting Daniel Graham go?

Just letting Corey Dillon go without trade or a retirement announcement from him?

Asante acting overbearing with contract demands?

Junior Seau saying hes going to play another season and return to the Patriots?

New England being the most overall aggressive team at FA signing?

OR MAYBE SOMETHING ELSE THAT SURPRISED YOU?

I'm going to have to go with the aggressive free agency as a whole. The past few years, the entire Patriots offseason was about as eventful as these weeks heading up to training camp. They both improved the team and, from a fan's standpoint, kept things interesting during the spring/summer.

A close second is Randy Moss basically because I hadn't heard many rumors that coming here was a possibility. Surprised that he wanted to be here, though? No. We have Tom Brady.

you ask a lot of questions
That surprises you?

My surprise, Mike Reiss isn't 7 feet tall with built in WiFi.

My biggest surprise is that there has been no attempt to shore up either the LB (other than Seau) or the secondary (does tory James really count?)

Errr....Adalius Thomas? Brandon Meriweather?

And if bringing back Seau counts as an "attempt" to shore up the linebackers, shouldn't getting Randall Gay, Eugene Wilson, Rosney Harrison, and Mel Mitchell back from injury, as well as franchising Samuel count as well?

Kinda surprising he does interviews from his knees. Must be a psychological ploy to put the players at ease with him and let them feel like they have the upper hand subconsciously. Mikey's one sharp cookie like that.

He can't be on his knees, if you project him standing he'd be about the same size as the diminutive Kyle Brady at 6'6". I suppose his height could have been exaggerated by our respect for him, but I'd bet the Pats PR department has a hole dug along the side of the practice field to help put players at ease with him with his intimidating presence.

Oh a hole! Yes, yes... that would make more sense, and be much more subtle at the same time. :eat3:

"Adalius Thomas getting signed by the Patriots who began opening the wallet to garnish his services as top FA in 2007?"

I did not hink they would spend the $$$. With Moss and Stallworth they are only one hook for 1 year so no big deal.

I remember a few days before free agency someone started a thread saying there was no way we were going to sign Thomas. I was glad they were wrong.

When I read it on line that they had signed him I was estatic. I was really surprised. It told me they were serious about getting it done, Superbowl, this year.

You and three other people care. HA HA.

Oh, and the Chop Suey takeout.

And the answer to the question is Randy Moss. Never in a million years did I envision him in a Pats Uni.

While it was no surprise they needed receiver help, I am very surprised by the number of receivers they signed.

Randy Moss
Donte Stallworth
Wes Welker
Kelly Washington

Now it has everyone wondering who we should cut?

The signing of Kelly Washington surprised me. After picking up Welker and Stallworth, I figured we were stacked at the position and didn't need to put any more money into it. Showed me the management is serious about stirring up competition and giving Brady the best WR corps of his career.

The Moss move did not surprise me as much, it is a classic Belichick move to pick up an unhappy vet for 10 cents on the dollar.

Definitley Moss. First they trade for a guy who isn't one of their "character" guys, second, he takes a paycut to join them.
