Was I the only one during the game who said, "Who the hell is Dekoda Watson?!?!"

Just saw the NFL Network rewind of the game and was reminded of my ignorance.

Dude played pretty well... how have I never heard of him?!?!?!

Unless he's a...

It reminds me of the 2006 AFCCG in Indy when I didn't know half the guys playing defense because the starters were on the sidelines with cramps from having the flu.

BB was in his office watching film munching from a box of Cracker Jack and he was the prize.

Clever.

A nice story that I commented on in another thread. On Dec. 29 he was watching TV in his living room when we signed him for the third time to shore up what had become somewhat leaky special teams coverage. With HT's knee, Collins back and Mayo's shoulder, he is suddenly pressed into service and showed surprising penetration on pass rush despite seeing only 13 snaps. Kudos to the staff.

I had a good buzz going but when I saw "Watson" I sobered right up. It reminded me of when Larry Izzo had to play regular snaps.

Denver is going pound the rock, if Hightower doesn't play it will be a problem.

Well he'll be seeing more playing time as Mayo is done.

I didn't notice him in coverage, but he was pretty good rushing the passer.

Yes, you were the only one.

Ditto.

While not saying WHO is he, I will admit saying ' what the heck is he doing out there and even active in the first place?'

Dude's got some hops. BB is really getting good at stocking the back end, not being random.

In track & field, Watson was an standout athlete as sprinter/jumper. At the 2006 Region 4-4A, he captured two state titles, winning the triple jump with a leap of 42 ft 10 in (13.10 m), and running the lead leg on the South Aiken 4x100m relay, helping them win the event with a time of 42.59 seconds. In addition, he also earned a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash, with a PR time of 11.07 seconds.[1]

Which scares me a little because in that game Eric Alexander had a really bad 2nd half and gave up a big 3rd down play late in the game.

He's Adam Seward ... colorized and repackaged.

Ouch. You really know how to hurt a guy.

You were not the only one. I wasn't sure who they were talking about. I wasn't even sure which team he was on.

You guys should watch BB's after-victory videos. He praised Watson on one ST play mid-season.

He also released him the next week, but that's how it goes.

Watson is listed as a linebacker and played linebacker for other teams, but the Pats have had him with the defensive end group even back in training camp. It was entertaining watching the replay on Saturday where they circled the linebacker when Watson was actually lined up at right end. He's not big enough to play in most situations (even though he's up 19 pounds from the 226 when he ran the 4.40), but in pure passing situations sometimes it's helpful to have a defensive end who is just as fast as the QB he's chasing.
