Edelman Update

Should be effective barring re-injury (which of course seems to be a significant risk with this injury).

So they're saying they are going to be inserting a steel plate in his shoe to prevent flexing. Can anyone speak to this? I'm picturing him running around out there with one foot unable to flex. Like a pegleg or frankenstein monster or something, or Herman Munster.

Who said this?

He will put on normal shoe before game is over .

I just care about the bone being 100%, this is wonderful news. He may take a couple of games to get back to himself which is fine because I don't think we really need to be 'flawless' the next two weeks. If we make the SB though, I think it will be a much tougher matchup than KC and den/pit... By then at the latest he should be over any issue with drops, timing, etc. But if opening night was any indication, he should be very effective out the gate.

Wearing some kind of extra equipment to protect the area doesn't sound like 100% to me. I'm sure he'll be pretty good after 9 weeks off and 5 weeks of practice. I don't know about "100%" though.

Well, I guess that makes you relevant.

seattle and arizona yes.......carolina is just as much of a fraud as anyone else

The Divisional Round will mark nine weeks from Jones fracture surgery for the Patriots WR. With the average NFL return at 6-8 weeks, expect Edelman to play. The bone won’t be fully healed but with the screw in place, he should be quite effective although not 100%.

There was a report of Edelman using a steel plate in the shoe to provide additional bone stability. This is commonly done in the NFL for lineman but poorly tolerated by skill position players. My expectation is Edelman was using the plate for protection during practice. I doubt he will use it during the game. It would be a bad sign if he needed it to play as it would inhibit his mobility given the multiple cuts and jerk routes he runs. A steel plate is akin to playing in a stiff soled dress shoe or work boot.

I don't know why people are so worrid. He's fine. The protective insert is just that, protective to help insure no re-injury on a healed foot fracture. This apparently is nothing new and a lot of players use them to no ill effect.

Plus these little videos, he looks fine to me.

Edelmans quickness will be a sight for Brady's sore eyes.

it's just something to talk about............I think he's fine....i think he's been fine for a few weeks now

the coolest thing is that the game film from the pats last 6 games or so is completely useless to the chiefs......they don't even know who/where is going to play on the pats OL

Speaking for myself, the fact that he is coming back from a broken bone in his foot after almost 2 months when normally it's a 3-5 month healing process is concern #1. Concern #2 is the cutting, planting and weight shifting to that bone. Concern #3 is JE being tackled and him carrying 200 additional pounds on his body and that foot. He still has the screw in there and those bad boys can become dislodged if pressure hits the right spot.

Real happy he is moving around but it's not an actual game.

Glad to just have him playing in any capacity. He will make plays. move chains and make everyone else better in passing game especially seam routes for Gronk.
