Barry Sanders part two or Brett Favre..........

Lions save around $12M on cap next year by getting rid of him. Even more as a post June 1st cut.

If he retires and then changes his mind the Lions still get him back, right?

Yes, I'm doing that annoying thing where I'm daydreaming about getting an awesome but aging vet on our team. Megatron is a legit awesome dude, imo.

Really wouldn't be surprised if he just wants to play for a good team.

Maybe see what's left on the cap after extending Jones, Hightower & Collins?

I call BS. The Lions dont want to pay and Mega wants to keep his dignity.

He'll retire and he'll listen to a team worth listening to.

My understanding is that he is a good route-runner and very intelligent.

I think Detroit cuts him, then he gets lured in by a contender. Probably Denver lol

Calvin Johnson on this team with Edelman and Gronk... yikes. The Patriots could pretty much just address the OL in the draft then roll everyone. That red zone offense would be close to unstoppable.

From what I understand if he retires his rights are still under control by Detriot forever. So they would have to relinquish his rights in order for him to sign elsewhere.

OK not sure how it works. What you say makes total sense.

The key is to understand how genuine he is. If traded, I would assume that they'd get a decent pick in return assuming he would re-do his deal.
